The store will offer freshly baked breads, pastries, coffee and restaurant dining, bringing PAUL’s French-inspired bakery and café concept to Angola’s capital.

ANGOLA – French bakery, café and restaurant chain PAUL is expanding into Angola with a new outlet in Luanda, marking another step in the brand’s growth across Africa.
Franchise partner Retail Group will operate the new store and will offer freshly baked bread and pastries, coffee, breakfast options and restaurant dining.
Retail Group announced the upcoming opening as part of its expansion of international food and retail brands across African markets.
PAUL’s expansion into Angola further broadens its geographical reach across the continent.
The French bakery brand, which traces its history to 1889, currently operates in markets across Africa, including Algeria, Egypt, Congo-Brazzaville, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, Mauritius, South Africa, Tunisia, Mauritania, and Cameroon.
The new outlet is expected to combine PAUL’s traditional bakery offering with a café-and-restaurant format. Customers will be able to purchase freshly prepared breads and pastries while also accessing coffee and dine-in services.
The format reflects PAUL’s established international model, which combines bakery production, café service and restaurant experiences under one brand.
Retail Group is responsible for bringing the brand to Angola. The company began operations in Libreville in 2016 with its first franchise and has since expanded into restaurants, cafés, fashion, and lifestyle retail.
Its current network covers Gabon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lebanon and Angola, according to company information.
The Group has built its portfolio around international brands including PAUL, KFC, Pizza Hut, Pinkberry, MANGO and Adidas, alongside locally developed concepts.
Its history with PAUL dates back to 2016, when it introduced the French bakery and pastry brand to the Gabonese market. Retail Group later expanded PAUL into Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, in 2022.
Retail Group was formed in 2025 through the merger of Resto Group and Mooda, creating a unified platform for restaurant, fashion and lifestyle operations.
The company remains part of CEDICOM Group, a regional business with experience in distribution, logistics and consumer goods. Retail Group says CEDICOM’s supply-chain infrastructure supports its operations by helping to import, store and distribute products across its markets.
The Angola opening also reflects Retail Group’s broader strategy of taking established international consumer brands into new African markets.
The company says it currently operates across four countries, with Luanda becoming its latest market for PAUL as it expands its restaurant and café portfolio.
