The report marks the company’s 56th year of reporting on its environmental and social impact, and reinforces General Mills‘ commitment to transparency as part of the “Standing for Good” pillar of its Accelerate business strategy.

USA – General Mills has released its 2026 Global Responsibility Report, outlining sustainability and social‑impact milestones achieved during its 2025 fiscal year, which ran from May 27, 2024, through May 25, 2025.
The report highlights advances across three core pillars, Food, Planet, and People, and underscores the company’s “Standing for Good” platform, which is embedded in its Accelerate growth strategy.
On the food front, General Mills highlighted significant progress toward cleaner product formulations.
In June 2025, the company announced plans to remove certified colours from its US cereals and all K-12 school foods by the summer of 2026, and from its full US retail portfolio by the end of 2027.
As of March 2026, all K-12 school foods are now made without certified colours, achieving this milestone ahead of schedule.
The company also retained its position as the largest US producer of natural and organic packaged food.
Additionally, every “Big G” cereal now provides at least eight grams of whole grain per serving, reflecting ongoing efforts to meet evolving nutritional needs and consumer preferences.
On the environmental front, General Mills reported that it has now engaged more than 800,000 acres in its regenerative agriculture programs.
This milestone puts the company more than three-quarters of the way toward its goal of one million acres by 2030.
Furthermore, the company announced that it has achieved its 2016 commitment to zero waste to landfill across all of its wholly owned manufacturing facilities globally.
Climate progress remains a priority, with a reported 14% reduction in total value chain greenhouse gas emissions and a 55% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to the 2020 baseline.
Packaging sustainability also saw an uptick, with 95% of the company’s packaging by weight now designed to be recyclable or reusable, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable ingredient sourcing and product transparency.

In the People category, the company underscored its community investment commitments.
In fiscal 2025, General Mills contributed over US$83 million in food and charitable donations worldwide and enabled 7.9 billion meals through philanthropic partnerships.
Internal metrics remain strong, with 86% of employees identifying the company as a great place to work.
Chairman and CEO Jeff Harmening stated that for 160 years, the company has been making food the world loves while standing for good, expressing commitment to strengthening communities and investing in a healthy planet.
Together, these figures frame the 2026 Global Responsibility Report as both a milestone in the company’s 56‑year history of impact disclosure and a roadmap for further ESG‑driven change.
