Winland Foods invests US$38.5M into St. Louis pasta plant

This expansion is a key component of Winland’s strategy to meet rising consumer demand for private label and branded pasta products across North America.

USA – Winland Foods, a leading manufacturer in the meal preparation category, has invested US$38.5 million in expanding its pasta production facility in St. Louis, Missouri.

The announcement, made in April 2026, signals a major vote of confidence in American food manufacturing and reinforces the company’s position as a dominant force in the private-label pasta sector.

Under the project, Oak Brook, Illinois-based Winland plans to boost its manufacturing capacity and flexibility at the facility for making and packaging jumbo shell products, including adding production lines and rail-car access, according to the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED).

The St. Louis plant, located at 611 E Marceau St., produces egg pasta, manicotti, and jumbo shells, and the expanded production is scheduled to become operational in the fall of 2026.

Some 25 new jobs will be created with the investment, adding to the more than 100 people Winland Foods already employs at the St. Louis location.

Bob Chapin, technical operations manager for Winland Foods, expressed enthusiasm about the project, saying the investment “will add significant capacity” to the local facility, adding that St. Louis has “all the ingredients for success.”

State officials were equally upbeat. Missouri Department of Economic Development Director Michelle Hataway said the investment and 25 new jobs “demonstrate continued confidence in the economic advantages that have made our state a leading business destination.”

The project was also supported through the Missouri Works Program, which assists companies with expansion, job creation, and capital investment through withholdings or tax credits.

Notably, two years ago, Winland nearly shut down the plant, but working with city, state, and utility companies helped keep the facility open, making the current expansion all the more significant for the local community and workforce.

Based in Oak Brook, Illinois, Winland Foods operates 17 production sites across the US and Canada, producing private-label and branded food products for foodservice and retail customers, including pasta, dressings, pasta sauces, ready-to-serve soups, and pie fillings.

In September last year, private-equity group Investindustrial merged Winland Foods with Italy’s La Doria to form Windoria, a combination said to create a US$4 billion leader in food manufacturing.
