Chicago will continue to serve as a central hub for connecting Mars Snacking teams, accelerating innovation, and supporting long-term business growth.

USA – Mars Snacking has committed US$100 million into its Chicago global headquarters, creating over 600 high-quality jobs and solidifying the city’s role as a snacking innovation epicenter.
Announced in partnership with Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, the expansion includes two new office hubs: a North America regional office in Fulton Market with space for over 1,000 associates, and a downtown global hub in the former Kellanova headquarters in River North for the Accelerator Division.
This move builds on Mars’ recent US$42 million transformative Global Research and Development Hub in Goose Island in 2024, enhancing collaboration across its portfolio of over 20 iconic brands like M&M’s, Snickers, Pringles, and Pop-Tarts.
“Mars Snacking’s decision to expand its footprint in Chicago reflects the strength of our state’s workforce, infrastructure and business environment. We’re proud that a company with such an iconic portfolio is building on its history here, creating opportunity for Illinois families and strengthening our economy,” said Governor JB Pritzker.
The investment aligns with an Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credit agreement, providing Mars approximately US$43 million in incentives contingent on hiring 602 full-time employees by December 27, 2027.
Currently supporting more than 4,000 jobs in the Chicago area, boosted by the 2025 Kellanova merger, Mars Snacking views the city as a strategic nexus for North American operations, global functions, and cutting-edge product development.
Guided by Illinois’ Economic Growth Plan, Governor Pritzker continues to build the foundation for long-term success by focusing on key growth industries, including food processing.
With a top workforce, unmatched infrastructure, and a global manufacturing reputation, Illinois continues to be a key destination for companies looking to expand or locate.
As a global leader in food manufacturing, Mars Incorporated’s investment further strengthens Illinois’ position in this sector.
As Mars navigates post-merger integration, this expansion signals confidence in American manufacturing resilience.
Mars Snacking Foundation Creates Better Community Fund
The Mars Snacking Foundation’s Better Community Fund was also announced, part of Mars Snacking’s effort to recognise and support communities across the United States that have contributed to the company’s success.
The Better Community Fund will distribute more than US$3.6 million in grants in 2026 to more than 30 projects.
Through the Mars Snacking Foundation’s signature Community Connection grant program, it has awarded more than US$3 million to Chicago-based community organisations since its 2019 pilot.
Grants aim to strengthen social connections and transform community spaces, providing new or restored community assets that offer ongoing benefits to residents in under-resourced communities.
