As part of the project, the company is manufacturing and installing16 silos for storage of soy protein concentrate.

UKRAINE – KMZ Industries, a leading provider of complex solutions for grain storage and handling in Ukraine, has launched the installation phase of equipment for what will be Ukraine’s first plant dedicated to the production of soy protein concentrate.
The initiative, described as the company’s largest project of 2025, involves the manufacture and installation of 20 custom-designed silos with a combined storage capacity of 7,000 cubic meters.
According to Roman Shtelmakh, Director of Customer Service at KMZ Industries, the project required innovative thinking from the outset.
The project’s development dates back to early 2023, when KMZ Industries received an initial request for equipment supply and a general concept.
“We first received a request to supply equipment for the new plant, along with a general concept, back in February 2023. Its divergence from standard solutions surprised many, but that only made the challenge more exciting. In 2024, close collaboration with the client’s team pushed us to explore and generate multiple technical options in search of the optimal one,” he explained.
Shtelmakh noted that, in total, the company developed and evaluated six fundamentally different concepts for building the soy concentrate storage facility. Once the preferred design was selected, the engineers, designers, and technologists worked together to finalize the structural requirements, unique features, and equipment specifications.
The final plan covers a wide range of installations 16 silos for storage of soy protein concentrate, two silos for railway transport loading, one silo for truck loading, and one silo for big-bag packaging. This structure reflects the plant’s integrated design, enabling efficient storage, handling, and logistics for the high-protein ingredient.
For KMZ Industries, the project is not only a milestone in terms of engineering complexity but also a strong signal of how Ukraine’s agricultural landscape is changing. As global demand for plant-based proteins grows, soy protein concentrate is gaining strategic importance as a value-added product derived from Ukraine’s rich soybean harvests.
Commenting on the broader significance, Oleksandr Nebeskyi, Commercial Director of KMZ Industries, stressed that investments in processing are driving the future of the sector.
“Processing is the future of Ukraine’s agricultural sector. Both large and smaller companies are moving in this direction, while the government supports such investments by compensating up to 25% of costs and implementing grant programs. Last year, more than 40% of our customers were processing enterprises. That is why we are confident this trend will only continue to accelerate,” he noted.
Soy protein concentrate is increasingly valued in both human nutrition and animal feed markets, offering a high-protein, low-carbohydrate ingredient that aligns with global trends toward healthier diets and sustainable production systems.
