Gallo launches its new high-protein pasta

The new formula combines 95% wheat and 5% pea protein.

SPAIN – Grupo Gallo has introduced Gallo +Proteína, a new line of high-protein dried pasta aimed at consumers seeking more nutritious everyday options without sacrificing taste.

The company says the product delivers 17 g of plant-based protein per serving, roughly 40% more protein than its classic pasta, positioning the range as suitable for family meals and balanced diets.

The new formula combines 95% wheat and 5% pea protein, a blend Gallo describes as using locally sourced natural ingredients and avoiding additives and preservatives.

The brand emphasizes that the protein boost comes from vegetable sources, which it presents as an accessible way for households to increase protein intake while keeping familiar pasta textures and cooking methods.

Gallo unveiled the product at a launch event in Spain that included a cooking workshop hosted at Kitchen Club, where chefs demonstrated recipes for both hot and cold preparations using the new shapes.

The initial rollout features two formats, pluma (penne-like) and hélices (fusilli-like), chosen for their versatility in salads, sauces, and family-style dishes.

Cristina Sánchez Rams, R&D and Quality Director at Gallo, explained that ” the challenge was to develop a pasta with an improved nutritional profile without altering its texture, flavor, or cooking characteristics. We combined wheat and pea flour to achieve a product with higher protein density while maintaining the same great taste. It’s a solution for the whole family, improving the nutrition of everyday meals without changing habits or sacrificing enjoyment.”

The Gallo Group has taken another step in its commitment to balanced nutrition with the launch of Gallo +Protein, a new range of high-protein pasta designed for everyday consumption.

The product aims to make it easier for households to increase protein intake without drastically changing cooking habits or the way people enjoy a traditional pasta dish.

The launch comes amid growing interest in protein-rich foods, as consumers seek nutritional balance, flavour, and convenience. According to Kantar, one in two Spanish households purchased a protein product in 2024, generating €258 million (US$304.88M) in revenue.

With Gallo +Protein, Grupo Gallo reinforces its commitment to innovation and balanced nutrition, offering a healthy, practical and delicious option that transforms any everyday dish into a more nutritious and flavorful experience.
