dsm-firmenich strengthens Indonesia presence with new office, manufacturing facility expansion

The new office and expanded capabilities will strengthen customer collaboration and accelerate the development of locally relevant solutions for consumers.

INDONESIA – dsm-firmenich, has officially expanded its footprint in Southeast Asia by opening a state-of-the-art office in Jakarta and significantly expanding its manufacturing capabilities in Karawang, West Java.

The new Jakarta office brings together teams from dsm-firmenich’s three business units; Taste, Texture & Health, Perfumery & Beauty, and Health, Nutrition & Care, under one location.

The company said the setup is intended to improve cross-business collaboration, increase efficiency and support the development of integrated solutions for customers in Indonesia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

For the food and beverage sector, the Jakarta facility includes a baked-goods application laboratory and a pilot plant for dairy ultra-high-temperature applications.

These facilities are supported by expertise in local sweet and savoury applications and flavour creation.

The office also features customer co-creation and innovation spaces, allowing customers and technical teams to work more closely on product development and testing.

For the food and beverage sector, the Jakarta facility includes a baked-goods application laboratory and a pilot plant for dairy ultra-high-temperature applications.

The office also features customer co-creation and innovation spaces, allowing customers and technical teams to work more closely on product development and testing.

At the same time, dsm-firmenich has completed the expansion of its Karawang manufacturing facility, significantly increasing production capacity.

The company said the investment introduces new drying technology for reaction and top-note products, allowing the facility to process both high-fat and high-protein products.

Additional culinary blending capabilities are expected to improve manufacturing efficiency.

Sustainability is another component of the Karawang expansion. The facility is powered by 100% green electricity, while electric heating is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 300 metric tonnes annually.

Heat-recovery technology is also expected to reduce energy consumption by about 16%.

dsm-firmenich said Indonesia has been an important part of its operations for more than 35 years and remains one of Southeast Asia’s major markets.

The expanded manufacturing and innovation infrastructure is expected to help the company respond more quickly to changing customer requirements and growing demand across the region.

Simultaneously, the expansion of the manufacturing plant in Karawang increases local production capacity for high-demand food ingredients, premixes, and fragrance compounds.

Equipped with upgraded automation and precision blending technologies, the modernized site strengthens regional supply chain resilience by reducing reliance on imported finished products.

The enhancement also improves operational agility, enabling faster order fulfillment for regional consumer goods brands across Southeast Asia.

The developments reinforce Indonesia’s role within dsm-firmenich’s regional operations, combining local manufacturing capacity with application development and customer collaboration to support food, beverage, fragrance and nutrition markets.
