The strategic pivot builds upon SWISCA’s core engineering expertise in flow-sheet design, plant analysis, and customized mill construction.

BELGIUM/SWITZERLAND – SWISCA AG has officially transitioned from a high-precision standalone equipment manufacturer to a comprehensive, full-scope milling solutions provider following the successful turnkey commissioning of the CERES Mill in Brussels, Belgium.
The modernized facility, owned by the Bindewald & Gutting (BiGu) Milling Group, has a capacity of 900 tonnes per day and was recently presented to about 350 industry experts at the inaugural Milling Forum Europe.
The CERES project demonstrates SWISCA’s approach to combining engineering, process technology, equipment supply, installation and commissioning within a single project.
Working within an existing 11-storey silo building, SWISCA and BiGu adopted a vertical engineering concept rather than a conventional floor-based milling layout.
The design uses gravity to transport material through the plant, reducing dependence on pneumatic conveying.
According to project data, pneumatic lifts were reduced by about 48%, while overall energy requirements fell by about 40%. Initial measurements indicate specific energy consumption of 28 kWh per tonne for grinding.
The facility operates two milling lines with capacities of 600 tonnes per day and 300 tonnes per day. SWISCA equipment installed at the plant includes 38 ROMIL roller mills and 77 SIFTO plansifter modules.
The modular SIFTO units were installed across six floors within the constrained silo structure, demonstrating the company’s focus on adapting milling technology to existing infrastructure.

Automation is another key feature of the CERES Mill. Because the facility spans 11 levels, operators can use digital systems to manage the plant, identify process errors, and adjust parameters such as grinding gaps and aspiration settings remotely through mobile devices. This supports process control while reducing the need for manual inspections across the vertically arranged facility.
Beyond individual machines, SWISCA says its services cover process planning, engineering, project management, installation, commissioning, optimization and operator training.
The company develops process flowsheets based on raw materials and desired products, sizes machinery, and aligns mechanical, pneumatic, and aspiration requirements. Its milling technologists also support existing plants by optimizing yield, energy efficiency, quality, and hygiene.
Founded in 2018, SWISCA currently supplies milling equipment and complete plant solutions to customers in more than 50 countries. Its portfolio includes weighing systems, grain dampening technology, ROMIL roller mills, SIFTO plansifters, components, and automation systems.
