Roskam Foods to close California cereal and granola plant

Roskam Foods will close its San Dimas, California, cereal and granola plant as the company brings production together at its Grand Rapids campus.

USA – Contract food manufacturer Roskam Foods plans to close its cereal and granola production facility in San Dimas, California, on October 1, 2026, as it moves the work to its Grand Rapids site.

The company said the move will bring its cereal and granola operations into one Midwest facility and support new capital investment in the category. Roskam also expects the move to improve customer service, speed up product launches and strengthen quality control.

Roskam described its Grand Rapids campus as the best location for ingredient sourcing, production resources and automation.

“Centralizing cereal and granola production at Grand Rapids is an investment in the future of the category and in our customers,” said Andre LeBron, chief executive officer of Roskam Foods. “It positions us to deliver greater efficiency, faster innovation and the consistent quality our customers count on.”

Roskam acquired the San Dimas facility through private equity firm Entrepreneurial Equity Partners’ acquisition of the site in 2022 and its later merger with Organic Milling Inc. The company has already moved production and scheduling to Grand Rapids to keep supply running during the change.

Roskam said customers will not face interruptions in service or supply and that it has contacted them directly about the move.

The company has also notified employees affected by the closure and completed required filings, including notifications under the US WARN Act. Roskam said it will support affected workers and work with other employers in the area to help them find new jobs.

“Our customers count on us for consistency, speed and quality, and this consolidation delivers on all three,” said Zach Malin, chief commercial officer at Roskam. “By centralizing cereal and granola production and investing in it, we’re building the capacity to innovate faster and grow alongside the brands we serve.”

Roskam currently runs more than 2 million square feet of manufacturing space across eight facilities in the US and Canada. Founded in 1923, the company makes baked snacks, cereals, baking mixes, confectionery products, frozen entrees, and refrigerated and shelf-stable foods for retail, branded, private-label and foodservice customers.

The closure comes as Roskam continues to focus its manufacturing footprint on key product categories. The company said the Grand Rapids investment will give its cereal and granola business a larger base for future growth while keeping supply steady for customers during the transition.
