PepsiCo, Mars and ADM unite to advance regenerative agriculture in Poland

Regenerative agriculture is a vital tool for enhancing soil health, strengthening farm resilience, and reducing agricultural emissions.

POLAND – Three global leaders in food, beverages, and pet care have joined forces to launch a regenerative agriculture program in Poland, supporting local farmers in adopting sustainable practices across diverse crop rotations.

The partnership brings together PepsiCo, Mars, and ADM to address climate impacts in agriculture, cutting agricultural emissions while strengthening supply chain resilience.

The initiative, covering 5,454 hectares in Western Poland, brings 24 farmers into the transition toward regenerative practices.

Mars will support regenerative wheat across 3,359 hectares to supply pet care brands including WHISKAS and PEDIGREE.

PepsiCo will advance sustainable rapeseed cultivation on 2,160 hectares for snack brands such as Lay’s and Doritos while ADM steps in as the key implementation partner, providing both financial support and technical expertise to ensure the adoption of these practices.

Unlike single-crop programs, this project adopts a farm-wide approach, emphasizing rotational agriculture. By alternating cereals, legumes, and cover crops each season, farmers can naturally replenish soil nutrients, disrupt pest cycles, and improve soil structure.

Technical specialists, including Biospheres, will provide hands-on training, equipping farmers with knowledge to reduce reliance on synthetic inputs while adapting to climate stresses. Farmers will also receive financial incentives for practices such as cover cropping and conservation tillage, alongside support for carbon sequestration efforts.

“Regenerative agriculture is a vital tool for enhancing soil health, strengthening farm resilience, and reducing agricultural emissions, which can ultimately benefit farmers and their livelihoods,” said Archana Jagannathan, Chief Sustainability Officer at PepsiCo Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

She added that the initiative builds on PepsiCo’s three decades of collaboration with Polish farmers and contributes to its ambition of implementing regenerative practices across 10 million acres globally by 2030.

Paul Gardner, Lead Global Commercial VP at Mars Incorporated, emphasized the collaborative nature of the initiative.

“Through this pre-competitive collaboration, Mars, PepsiCo and ADM are working together to help tackle the climate impacts of the agricultural supply chain. Working across shared crop rotations in this way, we can empower farmers to adopt more climate-smart practices over the long term,” he said.

For ADM, a major player in agricultural origination and processing, the partnership plays a vital role in scaling solutions.

We are proud to support farmers through this partnership and enhance the resilience of the supply chain which is crucial to the future of agriculture,” said Katherine Pickus, Chief Sustainability Officer at ADM.

Pickus added that the initiative represents an exciting opportunity to help standardize and accelerate the implementation of regenerative farming methods, paving the way for a more resilient agricultural system.

Poland is emerging as a benchmark for regenerative farming in Europe, where sustainable practices vary by region.
