Oroweat expands functional bakery line with launch of high-fiber and high-protein breads

These new offerings are specifically designed to address the increasing consumer demand for “better-for-you” staples that provide significant nutritional benefits without sacrificing traditional taste or the soft texture required for everyday use.

USA – Oroweat, a premium bread brand under Bimbo Bakeries USA, has this spring introduced three new nutrition-forward breads: Oroweat Fiber Power Bread and two new Oroweat Protein Breads, designed to help consumers meet their daily fiber and protein goals without changing their everyday eating habits.

The launch coincides with a landmark US$1 billion capital investment pledge by parent company Grupo Bimbo, intended to modernize American infrastructure and accelerate the development of health-centric products between 2026 and 2028.

Oroweat Fiber Power Bread delivers 14 grams of fiber per two-slice serving, with each single slice containing 110 calories, 160 mg of sodium, and 2 grams of added sugar.

Two slices easily get a consumer to 40% of their daily fiber goal, making it a practical upgrade for the everyday sandwich.

The Protein Bread line is available in two varieties; white and honey oat, both providing 20 grams of complete protein per two-slice serving.

A single slice of the white variety contains 130 calories, 180 mg of sodium, and 2 grams of added sugar, while the honey oat variety contains 130 calories, 170 mg of sodium, and 1 gram of added sugar.

The protein in each variety is sourced from a blend of soy protein isolate, pea protein isolate, canola protein isolate, and whey protein concentrate.

The launches are squarely aimed at addressing documented nutritional gaps among American consumers.

According to a 2025 Cleveland Clinic report and a 2016 National Library of Medicine report, over 90% of US adults do not consume enough fibre.

Meanwhile, a 2026 International Food Information Council report found that 70% of US adults are actively looking for ways to add protein to their diets.

Orela Suku DeCurtis, Director of Marketing for Oroweat, said: “People want simple ways to power their day with extra fiber and protein. Oroweat Fiber Power Bread and Protein Bread make hitting those nutritional milestones easy and delicious, using a first-of-its-kind blend of plant-based fiber and protein.”

The new breads are available at grocery retailers nationwide at a suggested retail price of US$7.69.

Bimbo Bakeries USA operates more than 50 manufacturing locations across the United States and employs over 20,000 associates.

The company is a subsidiary of Mexico’s Grupo Bimbo, the world’s largest baking company, with operations spanning 39 countries.
