Lantmännen Unibake expands portfolio with strategic acquisition of Boboli Benelux

DENMARK – Lantmännen Unibake, one of Europe’s largest bakery groups, has announced the acquisition of Dutch bakery specialist Boboli Benelux B.V., marking a significant step in its expansion into the savory baked goods segment.
The move strengthens Unibake’s position in the fast-growing European bake-off market and introduces its first production facility in the Netherlands.
Headquartered in Bunschoten, Boboli Benelux is renowned for its Mediterranean-inspired flatbreads, including focaccias, pizzas, and pizza crusts.
The company employs approximately 200 people and has built a strong presence across the Benelux region, the UK, and Germany, targeting retail, convenience, and foodservice channels.
With this acquisition, Lantmännen Unibake gains not only production capacity but also deep expertise in savory products across both bake-off and chilled technologies.

The acquisition is part of a broader strategy by Lantmännen Unibake and its parent cooperative, Lantmännen, to strengthen its footprint in core markets and diversify its product offerings.
Recent investments include a new bread production facility in Örebro, Sweden, as well as increased stakes in plant-based and vegetable-focused food companies.
With a workforce of around 6,000 and distribution in over 60 markets, Lantmännen Unibake’s portfolio includes well-known brands such as Schulstad, Pastridor, Hatting, Vaasan, and Bonjour.
The addition of Boboli Benelux not only enhances its savory capabilities but also reinforces its commitment to delivering high-quality baked goods tailored to evolving consumer tastes.
