IMCD inaugurates newly integrated technical centre in Malaysia

The newly integrated headquarters and technical centre bring Malaysia offices and laboratory facilities together under one roof to better serve customers across Food & Nutrition, Beauty & Personal Care, and Home Care I&I business groups.

MALAYSIA – IMCD Group, a global leader in specialty chemicals and ingredients distribution, has opened its newly integrated headquarters and technical center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, consolidating operations to accelerate innovation in food, beauty, and home care sectors.

The state-of-the-art facility unites management, commercial teams, and laboratories previously scattered across sites, fostering seamless collaboration with customers and suppliers in Southeast Asia’s dynamic life sciences market.

The hub supports IMCD’s Beauty & Personal Care, Food & Nutrition, and Home Care I&I business groups with dedicated spaces for application development, formulation testing, and client engagement.

Key features include a Food & Nutrition Applications Laboratory and a Bistro for bakery, confectionery, and functional food concepts, both equipped for trend-driven solutions such as clean-label ingredients and sustainable formulations.

The Bistro serves as a tasting and discussion space and experience room where customers can experience finished applications and explore ideas with IMCD teams.

Together, the Bistro and Applications Laboratory provide an immersive, hands-on environment where customers co-create trend-driven formulation solutions, moving efficiently from ideation, functional recipe and processing support to indulgent ready-to-evaluate samples with expert technical support.

The Beauty & Personal Care Lab and Beauty Studio offer over 20 market-ready chassis for skincare, haircare, and cosmetics, delivering tailored prototypes in hours.

The Home Care I&I Laboratory focuses on applications such as laundry, dishwash, surface care, vehicle care, air care, and pet care, with equipment that supports testing, formulation optimization, and troubleshooting.

Serene Cheng, Managing Director of IMCD Malaysia & Singapore, emphasized collaboration: “By combining our teams, laboratories, and equipment in one shared space, we make it easier for our technical and end-market experts to work closely with each other, and with our customers and suppliers.”

This builds on IMCD’s 2023 acquisition of Euro Chemo-Pharma and Biofresh, reinforcing its APAC footprint amid booming demand for specialty ingredients in a region where food processing grows 7% annually.

The centre addresses challenges such as supply volatility and sustainability mandates, enabling agile responses to consumer shifts toward natural, high-performance formulations across snacks, personal care, and household essentials.

For food manufacturers, the Bistro’s tasting space enables real-world evaluations, accelerating market entry for innovations such as fortified bakery items.

The company framed the investment as part of a long‑term commitment to serve Asia Pacific markets with locally relevant technical expertise and faster customer engagement.

As Southeast Asia’s ingredients market surges toward US$100 billion by 2030, IMCD’s investment signals confidence in localized R&D, positioning Malaysia as an APAC innovation nexus.

Last month, IMCD opened an integrated Food and Nutrition laboratory in Cologne.
