GPT acquires Munters FoodTech Equipment

Headquartered in Assumption, Illinois, GPT is a privately held standalone business owned by American Industrial Partners, a private equity firm based in the U.S.

USA – Grain & Protein Technologies (GPT), a global designer, manufacturer, and marketer of equipment for grain storage and handling, seed processing, and protein production, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Munters FoodTech Equipment, a company known for providing energy-efficient air treatment and climate solutions.

FoodTech Equipment specializes in producing fans, ventilation, and cooling systems, as well as CELdek (evaporative cooling pads), which are used in the livestock farming and greenhouse sectors.

Notably, the production and sale of the CELdek product line in the Americas were excluded from this divestment.

FoodTech Equipment has also been involved in selling and servicing products under the Aerotech, Euroemme, and Reventa brands.

Munters, headquartered in Kista, Sweden, stated that the divestment of its equipment business, first announced in February, encompasses five production facilities located in Italy, Germany, China, and the United States, one assembly hub in South Africa, and three sales offices.

Approximately 400 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia are part of this business. The transaction was valued at approximately SEK 1.1 billion (around US$114 million).

“GPT is committed to upholding the strong legacy of the Aerotech, Euroemme, and Reventa brands, continuing to deliver best-in-class climate control and air treatment solutions for the agribusiness sector. This investment in a heritage platform presents a compelling opportunity for us to broaden our product portfolio and strengthen our position in the protein segment, which is experiencing long-term growth driven by factors such as lower feed costs, population growth, and rising per capita incomes,” said Jacob Thomas, CEO of GPT.

GPT was established following the acquisition of the GSI, Cumberland, Automated Production (AP), Tecno, and Cimbria brands from AGCO last fall.

GPT serves farmers and agribusiness managers in over 100 countries and currently operates 14 manufacturing facilities across North America, Brazil, Europe, and Malaysia, employing more than 3,200 people.

“We are excited to welcome around 400 talented and dedicated team members from Munters FoodTech Equipment to the GPT family. Munters’ customers can expect the same high standards of quality and performance, with products manufactured in the same facilities by the same people. Customers will continue to be supported and serviced by the same sales channels and personnel,” said Thomas.
