Ferrero Group appoints Terence Viney as General Manager for Australia, New Zealand

Viney succeeds Massimo D’Ambrosio, who has moved to a new role within Ferrero Group in the United States.

AUSTRALIA – Ferrero Group has announced the appointment of Terence Viney as the new General Manager for its Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) operations.

Viney, a veteran executive within the company, steps into the role to drive Ferrero’s regional market momentum, succeeding Massimo D’Ambrosio, who is transitioning to a senior leadership position within the Ferrero Group in the United States.

The appointment marks a homecoming for Viney, whose fifteen-year career with the Ferrero Group originally began in Australia.

Before returning to head the ANZ division, Viney accumulated extensive international experience, holding pivotal leadership positions across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Most recently, he served as the General Manager for Ferrero Israel, demonstrating a proven track record in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sales development and strategic cross-border operational management.

In his new role, Viney is tasked with overseeing a robust portfolio of iconic brands, including Nutella, Ferrero Rocher, Kinder, and Tic Tac.

A key component of his mandate will be managing Ferrero’s ongoing diversification strategy in Oceania.

The company is actively expanding its footprint beyond traditional chocolate and sugar confectionery into highly competitive segments, including premium ice cream, biscuits, and the rapidly growing “better-for-you” snack market.

Australia and New Zealand represent vital pillars in Ferrero’s broader Asia-Pacific growth strategy. The region’s operations are heavily supported by the company’s manufacturing hub in Lithgow, New South Wales.

Established in 1978 as Ferrero’s first production facility outside of Europe, the Lithgow plant processes thousands of tonnes of locally sourced Australian milk and sugar annually, manufacturing Nutella for both domestic consumption and regional export markets.

Viney noted that his focus will center on building long-term value for retail partners, maintaining a disciplined approach to supply chain innovation, and driving sustainable growth in a complex economic landscape.

Jerome Gray, Managing Director for Ferrero Asia Pacific, expressed strong confidence in the appointment. Gray highlighted that Viney’s unique combination of over thirty years of FMCG sector experience, global operational perspective, and deep-rooted familiarity with the local Australian grocery landscape makes him uniquely equipped to lead the division through its next phase of market expansion.

The leadership change comes as Ferrero continues to position its Australian operations as a strategic hub for both regional supply and category expansion beyond traditional confectionery lines.
