Givaudan opens new production facility in Indonesia

By expanding manufacturing capacity and accelerating innovation, the new facility will strengthen the company’s ability to meet rising consumer demand for memorable food experiences in one of Southeast Asia‘s fastest-growing markets.

INDONESIA – Givaudan, a global leader in Taste & Wellbeing, has officially inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Cikarang, Indonesia, reinforcing its long-term commitment to one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing food and beverage markets.

Representing a major investment of CHF 50 million (approximately US$61.9 million), the cutting-edge plant is designed to boost the company’s regional production capacity significantly.

The strategic expansion allows Givaudan’s Taste & Wellbeing division to meet rapidly accelerating consumer demand for innovative, high-quality food and beverage solutions across Southeast Asia’s highly dynamic market.

The newly built complex spans 24,000 square metres of floor space and is situated on a sprawling 50,000-square-metre industrial site.

The Cikarang plant will focus primarily on manufacturing advanced savoury, sweet, and snack flavour powders for a broad spectrum of commercial food applications.

In its initial operational phase, the facility is expected to generate around 60 skilled local jobs, with infrastructure designed to accommodate future workforce and technical scaling as production volumes increase to supply both domestic and regional export clients.

Environmental sustainability is a core pillar of the new industrial site, aligning closely with Givaudan’s broader global eco-efficiency targets.

The facility integrates sophisticated eco-resilient infrastructure, featuring large-scale rooftop solar arrays, comprehensive rainwater-harvesting networks, and advanced water management systems.

Additionally, the plant utilizes energy-efficient lighting and maintains green electricity partnerships to heavily reduce its overall carbon footprint while optimizing day-to-day resource consumption and supply chain resilience.

The Cikarang opening strengthens Givaudan’s established commercial footprint in Indonesia, where it already operates a creation and innovation hub in Jakarta alongside liquid and spray-dry flavour manufacturing lines in Cimanggis.

Christian Stammkoetter, Chief Executive Officer of Givaudan, emphasized that this latest capital deployment reflects the group’s enduring corporate commitment to the Indonesian economy.

Stammkoetter noted that the high-growth manufacturing facility directly anchors Givaudan’s 2030 strategic roadmap, which prioritizes expanding local customer reach, cutting down shipping lead times, and securing market share within emerging global food ecosystems.
