The project is designed to expand the mill’s grain storage volume, improve lot segregation, and enhance blend preparation ahead of milling, thereby strengthening Molini Valente’s ability to produce consistent, high-quality flours for diverse bakery applications.

ITALY – CESCO EPC has officially commenced construction on a state-of-the-art grain homogenization and dosing facility for Italian flour milling company Molini Valente SpA at its primary milling complex in Felizzano, northern Italy.
The major site expansion is designed to enhance the mill’s overall raw material handling capabilities while significantly refining lot segregation, quality control, and pre-milling grain blending operations.
The CESCO expansion complements recent investments in milling capacity and automation, including a 250-tonne-per-day soft wheat line supplied by Ocrim that started up earlier in 2026 to enable flexible, batch-based production of bakery flours with full traceability.
The new installation is engineered for seamless integration with Molini Valente’s existing grain handling infrastructure, which includes a dedicated rail intake terminal.
This connection will enable incoming rail grain shipments to be received, sampled, and routed with high operational flexibility and minimal handling bottlenecks.
Operating as the primary Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor, CESCO EPC is managing the project’s full engineering scope, equipment procurement, and mechanical installation work.
A standout feature of the project is its flood-resilient structural design, specifically tailored to withstand environmental challenges.
Because the Felizzano site is situated in an area susceptible to periodic flooding, traditional flat-bottom silos were replaced with high-capacity hopper-bottom silos to eliminate flood-related grain loss.
Furthermore, the bottom shell course of each silo wall features a specialized steel bracing frame that provides open access beneath the structures for straightforward cleaning, inspection, and drying following any potential severe weather event.
The core storage setup comprises eight HBS 12,20/16/45 hopper bottom silos fitted with continuous digital temperature monitoring systems to safeguard grain health during storage.

Each silo is sized to store the volume of an entire grain train delivery, allowing full segregation of single trainload lots for tailored homogenization.
This targeted storage capacity enables Molini Valente to handle variations in raw grain quality, origin, and moisture levels effectively, ultimately ensuring a uniform blend and consistent performance in finished flour production.
Internal transfer throughout the new facility utilizes high-efficiency bucket elevators, chain conveyors, and specialized belt conveyors engineered to prevent dust generation and preserve kernel integrity.
Integrated aspiration filter networks further maintain workplace safety and air cleanliness across the complex.
The ongoing construction is taking place within a confined footprint adjacent to active rail lines without disrupting daily flour production.
Construction is focused on the erection of the silos and connecting catwalks. Installation of the bucket elevator, elevator tower and conveying equipment will follow during the autumn, with project completion expected by the end of 2026.
