Bühler hosts fourth annual Student Career Expo to empower future industry leaders

This interactive approach aimed to spark enthusiasm for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

SOUTH AFRICA – Bühler Southern Africa recently hosted its fourth annual Student Career Expo on August 8, 2025, reaffirming the company’s strong commitment to inspiring and nurturing future talent in the region.

The event, held in Johannesburg, was designed to provide students with unique opportunities to explore promising career paths within Bühler and the broader agribusiness and advanced manufacturing sectors.

The Student Career Expo not only showcased Bühler’s innovative technologies and industry solutions but also provided students with engaging hands-on experiences and insightful demonstrations.

Students were given exclusive insights into the company’s state-of-the-art equipment and operations, including a tour of Bühler’s warehouse facilities, which allowed them to see firsthand how technology powers the food and advanced materials industries.

This interactive approach aimed to spark enthusiasm for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), especially within a sector crucial to food security and sustainable development.

Bühler’s initiative forms part of its broader corporate social responsibility and talent development strategy, focusing on creating pathways for young people to gain meaningful skills and job opportunities.

The company emphasises equipping the next generation with the tools they need to succeed in an evolving industrial landscape, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Representatives from Bühler engaged with students during the expo to discuss potential career opportunities across various roles, including engineering, manufacturing, product development, and research.

The event also included presentations on the importance of sustainability and digital transformation in the food and feed industries, highlighting Bühler’s commitment to balancing humanity, nature, and the economy in its business decisions.

One of the standout moments was a presentation delivered by the South African Grain Milling Academy (SAGMA), the sole accredited training institution for grain milling in Sub-Saharan Africa and a partner of the Chamber of Milling.

SAGMA shed light on the critical yet frequently underrecognised grain milling industry, offering learners a gateway into its operations and significance.

SAGMA also introduced a range of educational pathways, such as Milling for Non-Millers (MFNM), Maize Milling Technology, and Wheat Milling Technology, designed to equip participants with practical expertise and expose them to the diverse career opportunities available within the sector.

The Student Career Expo not only creates awareness about Bühler’s diverse career options but also serves as a platform to bridge the skills gap in South Africa and beyond.

By inspiring young aspiring professionals and providing direct contact with industry experts, Bühler hopes to encourage more students to pursue careers in sectors vital for global food production and industrial innovation.

This annual event continues to gain traction as a valuable component of Bühler’s efforts to support communities and contribute to the development of future-ready talent with the skills and vision necessary for the challenges ahead.
