The new unit integrates a single sorting module into a redesigned, smaller frame while retaining the core capability to analyze and segregate individual kernels based on internal quality attributes such as protein content, enabling more precise segregation of wheat and barley for value maximization.

SWEDEN – BoMill has launched a compact version of its grain sorting platform, introducing BoMill InSight™ Single as a smaller-format solution for processors with reduced capacity needs.
The new model is designed to make the company’s single-kernel sorting technology accessible to a wider range of users, including facilities where space, investment levels, or throughput requirements make a full-scale installation unnecessary.
Built on BoMill’s proprietary Near Infrared Transmittance (NIT) technology, BoMill InSight™ analyzes and sorts grain kernel by kernel, based on protein content. It enables customers to precisely segregate wheat or barley and maximize value from every batch.
BoMill InSight™ Single uses one sorting unit in a newly designed compact frame and is built on the same modular technology as the original BoMill InSight platform.
With the introduction of BoMill InSight™ Single, BoMill offers a streamlined solution that integrates a single sorting unit into a newly designed compact frame.
Designed for simplicity and efficiency
The system can sort up to 2 metric tons per hour and produce two output fractions, providing processors with a practical option for lower-volume operations while maintaining the company’s high-precision sorting approach.
The launch expands BoMill’s portfolio beyond its larger flagship system, which can handle up to 15 metric tons per hour with eight sorting units.
According to company information, the new compact version maintains the same core sorting performance as the original platform and can be upgraded later if capacity needs increase.
That flexibility is likely to appeal to grain processors, millers, maltsters and terminals that want to start smaller without locking themselves out of future growth.
BoMill’s technology is based on Near Infrared Transmittance (NIT) technology, allowing the equipment to inspect each kernel individually and separate grain into quality fractions.
The company has positioned the platform as a tool to improve grain quality management, reduce waste, and support more efficient use of raw materials across the grain value chain.
The compact version also appears tailored for testing environments and sites with limited floor space, where a smaller footprint can be a decisive advantage.
By enabling kernel-level sorting based on protein content, BoMill InSight™ Single helps customers upgrade lower-cost grain into higher-value fractions, recover value from out-of-specification batches and secure consistent access to specific quality profiles.
The solution supports both wheat and barley.
The new release comes as grain processors continue looking for technologies that improve sorting precision while keeping operations efficient and scalable.
By offering a compact model, BoMill is broadening the reach of its platform and reinforcing its position in advanced grain quality sorting.
The equipment is aimed at grain-industrial companies with a sustainability agenda, willing to optimize further while enhancing the quality of their products, including grain producers such as large cooperatives and grain elevators, as well as processors such as flour mills and malt producers.
Viking Malt, a leading European malt producer, received an award in conjunction with its purchase of BoMill InSight.
Victory Malt received the RMI Excellence Award in the “smart investment” category for the acquisition of BoMill’s grain sorting solution, BoMill InSight, and collaboration in malting barley breeding. The BoMill InSight grain sorting system is installed at Viking Malt’s facility in Panevėžys, Lithuania.
The acquisition marks a further step for Viking Malt in strengthening collaboration across the barley supply chain and underscores the growing importance of advanced grain sorting technology in modern malting, BoMill said.
The BoMill InSight system has been integrated into Viking Malt’s operations, where it has demonstrated its ability to enhance raw material quality and support smarter malt production.
