Bakery China 2026 to kick off in Shanghai in May, spotlighting global innovations for the baking industry

The four day event will convene manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, equipment makers, packaging firms, and service providers from across the global baking ecosystem.

CHINA – The global baking industry is gearing up for a major event: Bakery China 2026, the 28th edition of this flagship exhibition, is set to open from May 20 to 23 at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC) in Shanghai.

Under the theme “Innovate Beyond – Premiere Fusion – Link Future,” the event organized by the China Association of Bakery & Confectionery Industry and Bakery China Exhibitions promises an unprecedented scale, spanning 330,000 square meters of exhibition space.

With over 2,200 exhibitors expected and projections of 400,000 visitors, it solidifies its role as a cornerstone platform after nearly 30 years, fostering innovation in bakery craftsmanship, raw materials, and processing technologies, including leading brands across the industrial baking, chocolate, and other related food value chains.

Zhang Jiukui, president of the China Association of Bakery & Confectionery Industry, emphasized the event’s significance, noting that it will deliver critical insights into market trends, consumer shifts, and emerging innovations that will shape the sector’s trajectory.

Attendees can anticipate thousands of product launches, including breakthroughs in healthy baking options, pre-made goods, and smart manufacturing solutions, highlighted in dedicated zones.

A standout feature is a week-long initiative for new product releases, featuring an innovation competition and the debut of Bakery China’s industry handbook, aimed at bridging traditional techniques with future technologies.

In a pioneering step, the exhibition introduces an inaugural forum to support Chinese companies’ international expansion, covering regulatory compliance, supply chain strategies, and brand localization, key for firms eyeing global markets amid rising demand for premium baked goods.

This aligns with broader industry shifts toward sustainability and efficiency, as Chinese bakery output grows amid urbanization and health-conscious consumerism.

Specialized areas will showcase trends such as plant-based ingredients and automation, drawing professionals from Asia, Europe, and beyond to network and explore partnerships.

Bakery China 2026 not only spotlights China’s baking prowess but also positions Shanghai as a global hub for food innovation.

Beyond the trade floor, activities including professional competitions, live masterclasses, guided tours, and a coffee & bread festival will bring trade exchange, trend insights, and networking together.

The upgraded iBakeryChina digital platform now fully bridges the physical and digital divide, offering a unified, cross-channel environment engineered to streamline global supply chain integration.

Bakery China 2026 will debut the China Chocolate Industry Exhibition alongside the 2026 China Chocolate Industry Forum, showcasing the full value chain from cocoa to finished products and featuring leading brands across the entire chocolate industry.

As the event approaches, early registrations are surging, signaling strong industry momentum.
