ADM launches new partnership with American Farmland Trust to strengthen American farmer resilience

Through the partnership, ADM Cares and AFT will engage American farmers to offer direct technical assistance for succession planning, connections to production resources and peer networks, and grant funding to support productivity, market access, and farmer well-being.

USAADM has announced a strategic partnership with American Farmland Trust (AFT), committing US$500,000 through its ADM Cares program to strengthen farmer resilience across six Midwest states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, and Missouri.

The US$500,000 investment from ADM Cares is part of ADM’s Farm Forward Initiative, the company’s long-term commitment to working alongside American farmers to strengthen resilience in a rapidly changing agricultural landscape.

This initiative falls under ADM’s broader Farm Forward platform, which consolidates investments and on-the-ground support to help American farmers navigate market volatility, trade shifts, technological advances, and climate uncertainties amid a 46% surge in family farm bankruptcies from 2024 to 2025.

The collaboration targets hundreds of farmers, delivering tailored technical assistance for succession planning, peer networking, production resources, and grant funding to enhance productivity, market access, and well-being.

“The Farm Forward Initiative reflects our continued commitment to working alongside American farmers and strengthening America’s farm economy,” said Gary McGuigan, ADM Senior Vice President and President, North America Ag Services & Oilseeds and Global Trade.

AFT President and CEO John Piotti highlighted how the effort builds on soil health programs, providing practical resources, financial aid, and community connections to attract the next generation of farmers.

Farm Forward represents ADM’s unified strategy for regenerative agriculture and sustainability, building on prior successes, including exceeding 2.8 million regenerative acres in 2023 and targeting 5 million globally by 2025.

It addresses pressing needs in an era of economic pressures and environmental stewardship, fostering adaptable farms that sustain local jobs, food systems, and communities.

By partnering with trusted nonprofits like AFT, ADM bridges the gap between consumer demand for sustainable products and farmers’ on-farm realities, from cover crops to diversified income streams.

American Farmland Trust will lead on-the-ground engagement, providing hands-on support tailored to local needs and delivered through trusted networks with deep experience in farm viability and land stewardship.

The initiative aligns with ADM’s North American expansions, including regenerative incentives for cover crops, positioning the company as a leader in resilient agribusiness.
