ADM expands plant-based portfolio with launch of eight new functional protein ingredients

The new additions to ADM‘s ProFam and Arcon portfolios span soy protein isolates, concentrates, and pea-based ingredients, designed for applications including beverages, dairy alternatives, meat products, bakery products, and plant-based foods.

USA – Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), a preeminent global leader in human and animal nutrition, has announced the launch of eight new plant-based protein ingredients across North America and Europe.

This expansion leverages advanced food science to upgrade the texture, solubility, and overall nutritional profiles of alternative proteins, enabling commercial food manufacturers to meet surging global consumer demand for clean-tasting, highly diversified protein options.

The strategic product rollout introduces specialized additions to ADM’s well-established ProFam and Arcon ingredient portfolios.

Among the primary highlights is ProFam® 883, a highly soluble soy protein isolate formulated to achieve a clean sensory profile in protein-dense beverages and powdered formulas.

Concurrently, the company unveiled ProFam® 894, an isolate specifically engineered to replicate the exact mouthfeel and structural thickness required for high-quality dairy alternatives, including Greek-style plant-based yogurts and emulsified nutritional drinks.

Beyond dairy and beverage innovations, the expansion addresses critical performance parameters within the savory and processed meat sectors through the introduction of functional soy protein concentrates under the Arcon range.

Formulations such as Arcon® IH, Arcon® SB, and Arcon® 412 are designed to optimize water retention, juiciness, and cooking yields across intensive meat applications, including sausages, deli meats, and meat alternative patties.

Complementing these soy-derived solutions, the multinational ingredient manufacturer debuted a novel Pea Flour designed as a clean-label, allergen-friendly, and non-GMO texturizer for cereals, batters, and industrial baked goods.

For the European market, ADM launched European-sourced Arcon® R and European-sourced Arcon® T soy protein concentrates, targeting meat alternatives, bakery applications and dry extrusion.

Ongoing efforts in soy and pea protein development are designed to deliver functional, high-performing ingredients that support a wide range of applications, from meat alternatives, extensions and hybrids or blends to dairy alternatives, beverages, baked goods, snacks and specialized nutrition products.

By enhancing taste, texture and nutritional value, the company aims to enable its customers to bring differentiated products to market more efficiently.

This massive commercial launch is backed directly by proprietary ADM consumer research indicating that 66% of global consumers intend to increase their daily protein intake, while 86% believe that obtaining protein from multiple, varied sources is fundamentally healthier.

Greg Dodson, Vice President of Protein for North America at ADM, emphasized that the current nutritional landscape requires unprecedented variety, functionality, and formulation choices.

Dodson noted that by pairing advanced analytical capabilities with comprehensive multi-regional manufacturing facilities, ADM is uniquely positioned to help brands rapidly scale up clean-label reformulations.

Ultimately, this expanded portfolio reinforces ADM’s long-term business pivot from traditional agricultural commodity trading toward high-margin, science-driven biosolutions that optimize flavor and performance across global food supply chains.

Recently, ADM celebrated the opening of its new six-bay trucking food-grade wash facility in Decatur, Ill.

Located at ADM’s Transportation site, the wash bay will strengthen support for ADM’s Decatur complex by ensuring trailers are consistently cleaned, sanitized, and ready to deliver on-time solutions for customers.

Designed to operate 24/7, the facility’s development reflects ADM’s continued focus on reliability, customer service, and food safety.
