Ghirardelli launches first packaged cookie line

The cookies extend Ghirardelli’s push into baked goods beyond chocolate.

USA – Ghirardelli Chocolate Company has launched its first packaged cookie line, expanding beyond its traditional chocolate portfolio into the competitive ready-to-eat snack market.

The new Ghirardelli Crispy Cookies range features two varieties, Classic Chocolate Chip Crispy Cookies and Double Chocolate Crispy Cookies, bringing the brand’s chocolate expertise to a familiar bakery product.

The launch marks a new step in the company’s strategy to extend its presence in everyday snacking occasions.

The Classic Chocolate Chip Crispy Cookies are made with Ghirardelli chocolate chips as the primary ingredient, complemented by buttery notes, vanilla and brown sugar sweetness.

The Double Chocolate Crispy Cookies combine the company’s dark chocolate chips with cocoa powder and chocolate incorporated into the dough, targeting consumers seeking a richer chocolate flavour.

Both varieties are designed to deliver a crisp texture, with toasted edges and chocolate throughout.

Each variety comes in a 6.3-ounce (180-gram) package with 10 cookies.

The products are intended to offer consumers a convenient, ready-to-eat alternative for everyday snacking, coffee breaks and other occasions traditionally associated with packaged biscuits and cookies.

Bobby Oliver, vice-president and head of marketing at Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, said the company saw an opportunity to bring its established chocolate quality and flavour profile to the cookie aisle.

He described the launch as an important development in expanding the brand’s reach and creating new ways for consumers to enjoy its products.

Ghirardelli Crispy Cookies are available through the company’s website, with retail distribution planned across the United States.

The rollout includes Kroger stores beginning October 11 and Walmart stores beginning October 24, followed by expansion to additional retailers nationwide from January 2027.

The launch follows Ghirardelli’s introduction of its first refrigerated cookie dough range in June 2026, indicating a broader move into the cookie category.

Founded in San Francisco in 1852, the company is part of the Swiss-based Lindt & Sprüngli Group and is known for its premium chocolate products.

Ghirardelli’s entry into packaged cookies comes amid strong competition in the US cookie market, where established bakery brands and confectionery companies compete for consumers seeking premium ingredients and distinctive flavours.

By leveraging its chocolate reputation, the company aims to differentiate its products while extending its presence beyond traditional confectionery.

The new range’s success will depend on consumer acceptance, retail distribution, and its ability to compete on quality, flavour, and price.
