McVitie’s expands iconic Jaffa Cakes range with addition of Jaffa Mango flavour

This latest innovation represents a bold move to modernize a century-old classic by tapping into the “tropicalization” trend currently sweeping the global snack market.

UK – McVitie’s has launched a new mango‑flavoured variant of its iconic Jaffa Cakes, tapping into the growing consumer appetite for tropical tastes in the UK snack market.

The new Jaffa Cakes Mango replaces the classic orange jelly centre with a sweeter, mango‑flavoured filling while keeping the light sponge base and crackly dark‑chocolate coating that define the brand.

The launch is positioned as a limited‑time twist on the traditional Jaffa Cake, aimed at shoppers looking for a “tropical vibe” and a playful way to enjoy a British classic.

Each pack contains 10 pieces, priced at a recommended £1.50 (US$2.02), and is already rolling out across major supermarkets nationwide, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons.

Russell Smith, Marketing Manager at Pladis UK & Ireland, said the mango variant is designed to be an “ideal feel‑good bite” that keeps the range fun and ahead of the flavour curve without losing the format’s nostalgic appeal.

By switching from orange to mango jelly, McVitie’s is aligning Jaffa Cakes with wider trends in the UK biscuit and snack category, where tropical and exotic flavours are increasingly popular among consumers seeking novelty and indulgence.

The product sits alongside the existing Jaffa Cakes portfolio and complements other recent tropical‑flavoured extensions in the McVitie’s lineup, such as pineapple‑ and coconut‑based cakes and bars.

If the mango variant performs well, the brand may consider extending it beyond the initial run, signalling how even century‑old snack formats can be reimagined through flavour innovation.
