The new investment will fund upgrades to cutting-edge machinery and equipment.

USA – Wyandot Snacks, a leading private-label snack manufacturer, has announced a major expansion of its Marion, Ohio facility, investing US$7.7 million to modernize operations and increase production capacity.
The move will create 67 new jobs while retaining over 260 existing positions, reinforcing the company’s nearly century-long commitment to the region.
This growth strategy reflects Wyandot’s commitment to quality, safety, employee wellbeing, and community involvement.
Founded in 1936 as Wyandot Popcorn Co., the company has evolved into a premier supplier of grain-based snacks, cereals, and better-for-you products for global food marketers and retailers.
The company has continually adapted by expanding its product range and investing in automation to efficiently handle increasing demand, while also supporting its workforce by reducing manual labour using automated palletizing systems.
The new investment will fund cutting-edge machinery and equipment upgrades, enhancing efficiency and enabling Wyandot to meet growing demand for its custom snack offerings.
The automation upgrades are intended to shift employees from physically demanding tasks to more skilled roles involving system operation and maintenance, offering new career pathways and training programs.
Looking forward, Wyandot plans further automation investments, laying the foundation for sustained growth in the decades ahead.
The expansion is a strategic win for Marion, a city with a rich manufacturing heritage.
“For nearly a hundred years, Wyandot has been deeply rooted in Marion, and we are thrilled to reaffirm our commitment to this community with this investment,” said Lori Roberts, senior executive at Wyandot Snacks.
Mayor Bill Collins praised the decision, noting that Wyandot had considered relocating to Texas before ultimately choosing to stay.
“Wyandot has been a part of Marion for generations, providing good jobs and opportunities for our residents,” said Marion Mayor Bill Collins.
“This expansion means even more families will have the chance to build a future here, and we are proud to see Wyandot continue to believe in our people and our community.”
The announcement follows months of planning and collaboration between Wyandot and local officials.
The company’s decision was influenced by Marion’s skilled workforce, supportive business climate, and strong community ties.
Wyandot also recently contributed 5,000 packaged snacks to Marion’s Strongest Town Celebration, underscoring its local engagement.
This expansion reflects the broader trend of Ohio remaining a national leader in food production and manufacturing, showcasing attractive conditions for companies prioritizing innovation and long-term capital investment.
Wyandot’s expansion not only secures its legacy in Marion but also signals confidence in the future of U.S.-based snack production.
As consumer demand for healthier, innovative snacks continues to rise, the company’s investment positions it to lead in a competitive and fast-evolving market.
