The new center brings K-State’s internationally recognized strengths in grain, food, and animal sciences together in an interdisciplinary environment designed to accelerate discovery, prepare the next generation of industry leaders, and create solutions for a rapidly changing global food system.

The initiative, implemented primarily through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), aims to reduce post-harvest losses, lower transportation costs, improve farmers’ access to storage, and strengthen the country’s food-security system.

The project provides a full-service grain elevator capable of loading more than 200 containers per week, with an annual export capacity of approximately 275,000 tonnes.

The operational shift follows temporary shutdowns across major southern export facilities, including grain terminals.

The newly constructed facility significantly expands the company’s regional logistics network, connecting central Illinois agricultural producers to major river transport routes and international grain export markets.
