Pladis’ Flipz brand launches state fair fried chocolatey sandwich cookie

USA – Pladis’ Flipz brand has announced the debut of its limited-time offering, the State Fair Fried Chocolatey Sandwich Cookie, as part of its Summer LTO (Limited Time Offering).

These snacks feature Flipz’s crunchy, salted pretzels coated with flavours reminiscent of golden fried dough, chocolatey cookies, and sweet cream filling.

The 2.5-ounce bags are available at Dollar Tree, while larger 6.5-ounce varieties can be found at various retailers including Walgreens, Publix, and Albertsons.

“Flipz State Fair is our highly anticipated summer LTO platform that taps into consumers’ desire for novelty and escapism. Returning for the third year in a row, we are excited to introduce our new Fried Chocolatey Sandwich Cookie flavor, which is as comforting and nostalgic as it is delicious,” said Shivani Arora, marketing director of Pladis Americas.

This launch follows Mondelez International’s Oreo brand introducing a new limited-edition flavor, Chocolate Covered Pretzel, which features chocolate-flavored crème sandwiched between pretzel-flavored cookies topped with salt.

The flavor of chocolate-covered pretzels is popular among consumers; according to the 2024 Mondelez State of Snacking Report, 81% of consumers reported that they pay attention to the sensory experience of their snacks.

The Flipz brand is renowned for its state fair snacks. In 2023, it launched two new additions to its State Fair lineup: Flipz State Fair Churros and Flipz State Fair Strawberry Shortcake.

The Flipz State Fair Churros feature their signature salty and crunchy pretzels coated in a cinnamon sugar churro-flavored coating and drizzled with creamy milk chocolate, creating a taste experience reminiscent of a state fair adventure—packed with sugar, spice, and everything nice.

Similarly, the Flipz State Fair Strawberry Shortcake offers a delightful twist on the light and fruity concession, perfectly balancing sweet and salty. These pretzels are coated in flavors of fresh strawberry, sweet cream, and buttery cake.

Flipz is a type of confectionery originally created by Nestlé in 1997, consisting of salted pretzels covered in chocolate and other coatings.

Initially produced using Rold Gold pretzels, the brand was sold to DeMet’s Candy Company in 2003 and has been manufactured under DeMet’s ownership since then.

DeMet’s has expanded the range with several additional flavors beyond the original Milk Chocolate. In 2013, DeMet’s was acquired by Yıldız Holding, the parent company of Pladis.
