Six embossments inspired by the singer and her fan base are included in the cookies. Among them is Gomez’ signature, marking the first time OREO has placed an autograph on its cookies.
USA – OREO, a Mondelez International brand, has teamed up with Selena Gomez to develop a sweet-and-spiced cookie variety inspired by horchata, continuing its thread of limited-time innovations.
The new limited-edition delicacy consists of chocolate cinnamon wafers sandwiched between two crème layers, one with a chocolate and cinnamon flavor and the other with sweetened condensed milk flavored with cinnamon sugar inclusions.
“Making my own OREO cookie was a lot of fun. I grew up loving them, so being able to be a part of the process was a full-circle moment. I wanted to find a way for it to feel comforting and have a bit of nostalgia from my childhood. The cinnamon flavor gives it this horchata feel, and I’m excited for my fans to try it,” said Gomez.
The Limited Edition Selena Gomez Cookies will be available for preorder on the OREO website starting on June 2 and will be available for purchase in stores around the country on June 9.
Additionally, the collaboration will be accessible abroad, with stores in Canada and Brazil carrying it on June 9 and Australia and New Zealand on June 17.
“Tapping into Selena’s world — her cultural roots, her loyal fan base, her musical journey — propels the OREO brand’s cultural relevance and playful personality to new heights. The OREO brand is constantly discovering new parts of itself through creative and unexpected innovations. This collaboration embodies our commitment to delighting our consumers in unexpected ways and further establishes our footprint in the music industry,” said Michelle Deignan, VP, OREO, US.
This comes after Oreo and rapper-turned-country singer Post Malone partnered at the start of the year to introduce the limited edition Post Malone Oreo Cookies, which included two different flavored cookies, a special swirled crème, and nine different prints honoring the career of the “I Has Some Help” singer.
Oreo is an American sandwich cookie consisting of two cocoa biscuits with a sweet filling. It was introduced in 1912 by Nabisco, which has been owned by Mondelez International since its acquisition in 2012.
Oreo cookies are available in more than 100 countries, and the brand has produced many varieties, with limited-edition runs becoming particularly popular in the 21st century.
