Jungbunzlauer finalizes acquisition of IFF production site in Thomson, Illinois

The acquisition involves only the facility itself; it does not include any of IFF’s commercial business, product lines, or employees.

USAJungbunzlauer, a global leader in high-quality sustainable ingredients derived from natural sources, has successfully closed its acquisition of the multipurpose production facility in Thomson, Illinois, from International Flavours & Fragrances, Inc. (IFF).

This move marks Jungbunzlauer’s first U.S. manufacturing facility and represents a significant milestone in its strategic expansion plan for North America.

The company is focused on enhancing its ability to serve its U.S. customers more directly by localizing production and creating a closer proximity to the market.

The acquisition involves only the facility itself; it does not include any of IFF’s commercial business, product lines, or employees.

Jungbunzlauer immediately commenced preparations, including equipment installation and ensuring regulatory compliance tailored to its own production requirements.

Bruno Tremblay, Chief Executive Officer, Jungbunzlauer, stated, “We are proud to establish our first U.S. manufacturing facility in Thomson, Illinois, and look forward to delivering sustainable, trusted solutions for our customers.”

“We plan to invest in advanced manufacturing and deliver long-term value for the region, our customers and stakeholders.”

The site will support the company’s broad portfolio of natural ingredient products, including citric acid, mineral salts, texturants, and acidulants, used across sectors such as food and beverage, nutrition, health, home, and personal care.

The company also aims to contribute to local economic development by creating jobs, supporting regional suppliers, and actively engaging with the Thomson community.
