USA – Il Pastaio, an Italian pasta manufacturer plans to set up a 71,300 ft2 facility in Gregg Township in Pennsylvania USA, aiming to meet the increasing consumer demands.
According to Pierluigi Colombi, Il Pastaio’s CEO, the opening of the new plant will help in the integration of the best Italian traditions with the energy and the agro-food culture of the United States.
“We are excited to contribute to the growth of the sector, bringing our quality craftsmanship and passion for Italian cuisine to a new generation of consumers,” he said.
In addition, the project “will inject more than US$12.5m into the local economy and create at least 74 new, full-time jobs” in the area, according to a statement from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).
The Pennsylvania state administration under Josh Shapiro, Governor of Pennsylvania will also provide a US$111,000 grant for workforce training and up to US$72,200 in tax credits.
The Pennsylvania state administration also said that the Great Stream Commons business park is in a Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ), which will provide the company with tax savings.
“Having an Italian company like Il Pastaio recognize that Pennsylvania is the best place to do business proves we’re getting stuff done and delivering real result,” Gov. Josh Shapiro said .
Gov. Shapiro also stated that Pennsylvania has a strong business climate, a strategic location, and thriving industries for companies ready to grow and succeed.
Set up in 1983, Il Pastaio has three manufacturing locations in Italy. The group, headquartered in Brescia in northern Italy, also exports to other markets in Europe and to Australia.
Il Pastaio is an Italian producer of both fresh and ambient potato-based gnocchi. The company sells both formulations through private labels and its own brands (Pataró, Il Pastaio, Patagnocco). The company’s brands also include Divella, Granoro and Di Mauro.
