Olam Agri Ghana celebrates 30th annivesary

GHANA – Olam Agri Ghana, a leader in food, fibre and feed agribusiness, has celebrated its 30th year anniversary, during a grand edition of its Annual Excellence Awards

The awards ceremony was meant to honour the exceptional achievements of its most dedicated employees to commemorate three decades of significant contributions to Ghana’s food and agriculture sector.

The Excellence Awards honoured 24 employees across various company portfolios for their outstanding performance during the past year and also recognised 39 employees for long service, loyalty and dedication to the company.

In a keynote address, Baibhav Biswas, Country Head of Olam Agri Ghana, expressed gratitude to all employees and reflected on the company’s impressive journey thus far.

“As we celebrate 30 years in Ghana, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each member of our team. Your hard work and dedication have been instrumental in our growth and success,”   Biswas said.

“We are excited about the future and remain dedicated to supporting the development of Ghana’s agricultural sector while creating opportunities for our workforce.” 

For four consecutive years, Olam Agri Ghana has earned the Top Employer Institute’s prestigious certification as a ‘Top Employer’

This feat reflects the company’s adherence to international best practices in human resource management, and enabling an exceptional work environment and opportunities for professional growth for its employees.

Established in 1994, Olam Agri Ghana’s role in the country’s food and agribusiness sector has been critical over the years

This can be witnessed by the expansion of its workforce from only 20 employees 30 years ago, to over 1,200 today, demonstrating a strong commitment to both local employment and community development.

Following this growth Olam Agri has been established as a major player in the food and agro-industry, contributing significantly to food security in the region.  

Olam Agri has established a significant wheat milling and pasta production business in Africa over the past 14 years.

The company produces wheat flour in Ghana, as well as in Nigeria, Senegal and Cameroon with domestic distribution in all of these markets and exports to Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso Chad, Central African Republic, Mali and Guinea.

The Ghana subsidiary has a state-of-the-art wheat mill in Teme that produces market-leading flour for bread, baguettes, pastry, doughnuts, and biscuits. It is the largest of its kind in the country, with over 150 employees.

In addition to wheat flour under brands such as First Choice and Royal Gold, the company also mills bran.
