Eggo introduces new zero sugar waffles

The new Zero Sugar Waffles are designed for consumers seeking to reduce their sugar intake while maintaining the convenience and enjoyment associated with frozen breakfast products.

USA – Frozen breakfast giant Eggo, a prominent brand within the Mars Snacking portfolio, has officially announced the launch of “Eggo Zero” waffles, representing the brand’s first-ever product line featuring zero grams of added sugar.

The strategic expansion aims to satisfy growing consumer demand for health-conscious, macro-friendly breakfast options that do not force a compromise on taste or the nostalgic, golden-crispy texture that has defined the brand for generations.

The new line is scheduled to roll out to retail grocery stores nationwide beginning in July 2026.

The low-sugar frozen breakfast segment has historically faced consumer criticism for flavour and dry texture.

To circumvent this, Eggo spent extensive time formulating a product that replicates its signature crispy-outside, fluffy-inside eating experience.

Rather than using chemical alternatives, the brand opted for a clean-label formulation, sweetening the waffles naturally with a curated blend of monk fruit and stevia extracts.

Additionally, the new recipes are produced completely free of artificial flavors, colors, or synthetic sweeteners, catering directly to the rising market preference for clean, recognizable ingredients in the freezer aisle.

Eggo Zero is launching in two of the brand’s most recognizable and top-selling classic varieties: Buttermilk and Blueberry.

Beyond the reduction of added sugars, the formulation has been enhanced with a strong nutritional profile designed to fuel busy morning routines.

The Buttermilk Zero variant delivers 12 grams of complete protein per serving, while the Blueberry Zero option, which incorporates real blueberries, provides 11 grams of complete protein per serving.

By qualifying as a complete protein source, the waffles provide all nine essential amino acids in the proportions the human body requires.

Company leadership noted that the launch is a direct response to modern household behaviours, in which consumers actively seek lower-sugar alternatives but remain hesitant to give up the comforting foods they enjoyed in childhood.

Cara Tragseiler, Growth and Marketing Lead for Eggo, emphasized that the company remains deeply focused on evolving alongside its fan base.

She stated that Eggo Zero successfully unites the three primary attributes consumers request most, great taste, high protein, and low sugar, without losing the classic identity that inspires the iconic catchphrase.

Eggo Zero waffles will be packaged in standard eight-count boxes and will carry a suggested retail price of US$5.99.
