GERMANY—dsm-Firmenich, a health and nutrition pioneer, has revealed its plans to introduce cutting-edge innovations at this year’s Food Ingredients Europe (FiE) trade show, aiming to promote a tastier, healthier, and more sustainable global food system.
Scheduled to take place from November 19–21 in Frankfurt, Germany, the event will see dsm-firmenich spotlighting solutions across various categories, including beverages, baking, confectionery, cheese, dairy, savory products, and plant-based foods.
Spotlight on health and taste innovation
A key highlight of dsm-firmenich’s showcase is its focus on health and taste, with the company reiterating that the potential for food innovation lies at the intersection of healthfulness and flavor.
During the event, dsm-firmenich will present its latest product concepts, including lactose- and sugar-free Nutrimilk in strawberry and banana flavors, and a PeptoPro-infused recovery drink.
Visitors can also enjoy tastings of mini “Frankfurters” paired with sugar-reduced ketchup, as dsm-firmenich demonstrates how reduced sugar content can be achieved without compromising on taste.
Additionally, the company’s manager for baking and confectionery will explore the role of innovative enzymes in boosting whole wheat bread quality, improving dough stability, and enhancing volume to meet consumer demand for healthier and tastier baked goods.
Tackling global challenges
With modern consumers facing significant health challenges, dsm-firmenich aims to provide solutions through its expertise in food science and nutrition.
Noting that two billion people globally lack essential nutrients and 40% of adults are overweight, dsm-firmenich will highlight its efforts to reduce sugar and enhance the nutritional value of food and beverages.
A presentation led by the company’s senior health experts will address how producers can fortify foods with essential nutrients while reducing saturated fats, salt, and sugar.
The company will also delve into sugar reduction strategies that maintain the sensory appeal of food, showcasing reduced-sugar chewy gummies in apricot flavor and a savory BBQ sauce.
In line with growing global interest in sustainability, dsm-firmenich will present a comprehensive portfolio of solutions that cater to the evolving demands of environmentally conscious consumers.
The company will spotlight its AI-powered Dairy Culture Co-Creation platform, which helps manufacturers design specific cultures for dairy products. One case study to be shared will demonstrate the successful implementation of this technology in creating fresh, flavorful fermented products.
Furthermore, dsm-firmenich is committed to addressing the environmental impact of food production, which accounts for around 25% of global carbon dioxide emissions.
To this end, the company will promote plant-based proteins, including its Vertis CanolaPRO, which will be showcased in innovative forms such as tortillas and breakfast cereals.
Attendees will also be able to sample plant-based alternatives, including smoked “salmon” with cream cheese and pulled “beef” tortillas, alongside sustainable vanilla yogurt designed to extend shelf life and reduce food waste.
Engaging demonstrations and expert talks
At booth #3.1 F62, dsm-firmenich will conduct live cooking demonstrations and offer tasting sessions for visitors, who can experience firsthand how the company’s solutions enhance taste, texture, and health in food products.
The event will also feature expert talks on topics such as sugar reduction, sustainability in food production, and the use of enzymes in baking.
