Capwell Industries shines at Kenya Quality Awards 2025 with dual recognition

These accolades build on Capwell‘s recent successes, including four honors at the 2025 Kenya Millers Fortification Index Awards.

KENYA – Capwell Industries Limited has been crowned among the top performers at the Kenya Quality Awards (KQA) 2025, securing two prestigious honors in recognition of its commitment to excellence in food processing and innovation.

The Nairobi-based food manufacturer won the Product of the Year award for its Fortified Pearl Pishori Rice and emerged as runner-up in the Overall Company of the Year (Large Enterprises) category.

The awards ceremony, organized by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and held on October 25, 2025, in Nairobi, celebrated organizations that exemplify quality practices, customer satisfaction, and sustainable growth under the theme “Quality: Think Differently.”

Evaluations were based on rigorous criteria, including leadership, customer focus, evidence-based decision-making, and legal compliance, with an independent jury ensuring transparency.

Established in 1999 with a maize milling factory in Thika, Capwell Industries has grown into a leading diversified food processor in Kenya, producing a range of nutritious staples such as maize flour, pulses, rice varieties, porridges, and wheat flour.

The company’s Fortified Pearl Pishori Rice, sourced from the Mwea region, is enriched with essential vitamins (B6, B9, B12) and minerals to combat malnutrition while retaining the rice’s natural aroma and taste.

These accolades build on Capwell’s recent successes, including four honors at the 2025 Kenya Millers Fortification Index Awards in September, where it also received an Innovation Award.

In a statement following the event, Capwell expressed gratitude to its team, partners, and consumers for their support, noting that the awards reaffirm its dedication to delivering high-quality, nutritious products.

Speaking at the event, Kebs Managing Director Esther Ngari praised the winners for redefining what quality means in today’s marketplace, noting that quality is not just about compliance, it is about competitiveness, sustainability, and national pride.

These organisations are role models that have placed customers at the heart of their processes, embraced innovation, and built systems that deliver consistent excellence,” she said.

Kebs Board Chairperson Chris Wamalwa said the awards embody Kenya’s determination to build a globally competitive, ethically grounded, and quality-driven economy.

This year’s theme, ‘Quality: The Cornerstone of a Competitive and Sustainable Kenya,’ reflects the discipline, innovation, and resilience that define our industrial future,” he said.

Representing Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui, Principal Secretary Juma Mukhwana reaffirmed the government’s commitment to nurturing a culture of quality, innovation, and global competitiveness.
