ARYZTA expands French distribution network with SEB acquisition

The acquisition forms part of ARYZTA’s strategy to reinforce its presence in key European markets and improve access to premium frozen bakery products for customers in France.

FRANCE – ARYZTA, a global convenience bakery leader, has successfully expanded its commercial distribution footprint across Western Europe by acquiring Société Européenne des Beurres (SEB).

The corporate transaction, finalized through ARYZTA’s prominent French subsidiary Coup de Pates, involves the 100% acquisition of the regional logistics firm.

The strategic move formally integrates a long-standing independent partner into ARYZTA’s direct ownership structure, directly strengthening the parent company’s national distribution network and storage infrastructure within a critical European market.

Established in 1973, SEB has operated as a highly specialized regional distributor of frozen food products, establishing a dominant market presence within the Bordeaux region and its surrounding territories in south-west France.

The relationship between the two entities spans more than three decades; SEB has served as an exclusive independent distributor for ARYZTA, Coup de Pates, and La Carte d’Hubert-branded products since 1991.

By transitioning from an exclusive third-party contractor to a wholly-owned corporate asset, SEB provides ARYZTA with a fully optimized, localized supply chain system capable of driving deeper market penetration.

According to senior leadership, the acquisition will serve as a primary catalyst to support further organic growth throughout south-west France.

Bringing SEB into the corporate fold allows Coup de Pates to reinforce its competitive position within the country’s highly demanding frozen bakery and foodservice distribution channels.

The regional logistics network is vital for maintaining product quality and delivery efficiency to local bakery shops, pastry professionals, hospitality businesses, and catering specialists who rely on consistent cold-chain delivery timelines.

Urs Jordi, Chairman and Interim Group CEO of ARYZTA, expressed strong confidence in the commercial synergies unlocked by the transaction.

He stated that the SEB acquisition firmly consolidates Coup de Pates as the premier regional frozen distributor in south-west France and provides an excellent, scalable platform to deliver further organic growth for the French business.

Headquartered in Schlieren, Switzerland, and publicly traded on the SIX Swiss Exchange, ARYZTA continues to prioritize regional expansion and operational efficiency within its core European convenience bakery segments. Financial details and specific terms regarding the purchase agreement were not disclosed.
