WK Kellogg Co launches Super Stars cereal line to fuel K-12 school breakfasts

The rollout is part of WK Kellogg’s Feeding Happiness commitment to helping kids be their best by expanding access to nutritious breakfasts that support learning, focus, and student success.

USAWK Kellogg Co has announced the launch of Kellogg’s® Super Stars™, a new portfolio of K–12 cereals designed to make nourishing breakfasts more accessible and desirable for students.

The brand-new portfolio of K–12 cereals is engineered specifically to streamline school foodservice operations while boosting student participation in breakfast programs.

Unveiled at the School Nutrition Association’s Annual National Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, this new line is slated to become available for school districts nationwide starting in the 2027–2028 academic year.

The development of the star-shaped cereal line directly addresses the distinct and often tightening US Department of Agriculture (USDA) nutritional requirements mandated for school meals.

Each one-ounce serving of Super Stars™ delivers a substantial nutritional profile, supplying 4 grams of dietary fibre, 15% of the Daily Value (DV) for vitamin D, and 20% of the DV for iron, along with six essential B-vitamins.

Furthermore, in line with modern clean-label demands in institutional foodservice, the entire portfolio is formulated without artificial colors or flavors.

To secure high student engagement and prevent food waste, the cereal shapes and flavor profiles were curated using proprietary child-focused palate mapping.

The lineup debuts with four distinct varieties: Celebration Crunch, Cinnamon Crunch, Fruity Crunch, and Honey Crunch.

To build immediate trust with students, each flavor features a beloved, recognizable brand mascot on the packaging, including Tony the Tiger® and Toucan Sam®.

The launch also marks the historic return of Katy the Kangaroo®, a character revived by WK Kellogg Co after more than 70 years out of the spotlight.

Beyond nutrition, the product design focuses on addressing labour and prep bottlenecks in understaffed school kitchens. The cereals are offered in highly flexible, ready-to-serve formats, including standard one-ounce bowls, two-ounce cups, and a brand-new one-ounce pouch design unique to the Kellogg’s® brand.

Sarah Ludmer, RD, Chief Wellbeing and Sustainable Business Officer at WK Kellogg Co, emphasized that these pre-portioned formats eliminate prep time, allowing school nutrition professionals to navigate rising costs and labor shortages while reliably providing nutritious, regulations-compliant breakfasts.
