SUDAN – Turkish milling engineering specialist Uğur Promilling has announced the successful completion of the Rotana Flour Mills project in Khartoum, Sudan.
The facility, completed in approximately 1.5 years, is designed to produce 1,000 tons of flour per day and incorporates the company’s latest automation systems and energy-efficient technologies to ensure consistent performance and high-quality output.
Uğur Promilling, founded in 1955 as a family-owned enterprise in Çorum, Turkey, has grown into a global leader in the milling industry over its 70-year history.
Starting in a modest 60-square-meter facility, the company now operates from a modern 40,000-square-meter site, specializing in turnkey flour mill installations, steel silos, and grain processing equipment.
With over 500 completed projects worldwide, Uğur Promilling emphasizes innovative research and development, integrating renewable energy solutions and advanced automation to deliver environmentally sustainable and efficient systems.
The milestone comes after the engineering specialist recently delivered two other projects in Nakhichevan and Sweden.
In Azerbaijan, Nakhichevan, Uğur delivered a complete 200 TPD milling facility to GEMI QAYA MMC, equipped with cutting-edge grain processing technologies.
In Sweden, the company announced a successful 300 tons/day turnkey milling plant for Lantmännen Strängnäs.
“From engineering and installation to training and after-sales support, every stage of the project was completed with the reliability Uğur Promilling is known for,” the company posted on LinkeIn.
This Sudanese initiative aligns with Uğur Promilling’s extensive portfolio in the country, including prior collaborations such as the Seen Flour Mills and El Hamama Flour Mills projects.
Despite ongoing regional conflicts that have impacted agro-industries in Khartoum State, the project’s completion highlights resilience in Sudan’s food production sector.
Rotana Flour Mills, established in April 2014 and located in the Garri area of Khartoum, is one of Sudan’s largest flour production sites and plays a vital role in the nation’s knowledge-based economic development and food supply chain.
Sudan faces significant challenges due to prolonged conflicts, political instability, and economic disruptions.
However, during the 2024-2025 summer season, Sudan’s grain production has reached 6.6 million tons, markingthe highest output in five years, Abu-Bakr Al-Bushra, Sudanese Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, has announced.
This figure represents a 62% increase from last year and 7% above the five-year average, exceeding Sudan’s annual food needs of 5.5 to 6 million tons.
