Two Magpies announces management changes

Two Magpies Bakery Group has announced a series of senior management changes, including the appointment of Ben Magnall as a second‑generation director, as part of a planned leadership refresh to support the company’s next growth phase.

UK – Two Magpies Bakery Group Ltd has announced a raft of management changes designed to strengthen leadership as the family‑owned business prepares for its next stage of development.

The company confirmed the appointment of Ben Magnall, son of owner Steve Magnall, as a second‑generation director, a move that formalizes succession planning and brings fresh operational focus from the next family generation.

Ben, currently Strategy Director at Sony Sports with prior experience as a Strategy Consultant at OC&C, will join in spring 2026 and is positioned as a potential long-term successor to founder Steve.

Alongside Ben’s elevation, the announcement referenced other internal adjustments intended to clarify responsibilities across commercial, production, and retail functions.

Lydia Robertson as Manufacturing Manager overseeing all operations, Justin Skinner as Head of Quality and Training, Guy Watts as Head Baker, and Lilla Read as Head of Production.

These streamlined appointments reduce management layers, enhancing communication and agility as the business, known for its bakery/cafes, bake school, central production facility, and recent acquisition of Hilton Macarons, navigates rising costs while targeting robust profitability.

“By having less layers of management, we have already seen improved communication and efficiency,” noted Owner, Steve Magnall.

“The business is on track for growth and with Ben joining, he will be instrumental in helping us achieve ambitious expansion goals.”

Two Magpies also emphasized continuity in product quality and customer service, stating that the management changes will not alter the bakery’s commitment to artisanal recipes and local sourcing.

The company indicated that the refreshed leadership structure will enable more focused investment in staff development and shop operations and will support marketing initiatives to broaden the brand’s reach.

Since launching in 2012, Two Magpies has grown into a regional powerhouse, celebrated for sourdough loaves, pastries, oat flat whites, and granola breakfasts, emphasizing team ethos and value-driven operations.

The restructuring is positioning the group for scaled production and new sites.
