TGM’s renovations include an additional 1.5 million bushels of storage, a new 40-car railroad spur with a loadout facility, and two new, 1,000-bushel receiving pits.

USA – Total Grain Marketing FS (TGM) has completed a major expansion of its Neoga, Illinois, facility, delivering significant upgrades in grain storage, receiving, and rail transport capabilities.
The investment, developed on a new 20-acre site adjacent to its existing operations, positions the company to better serve farmers during the peak harvest season while improving market access to southern and export destinations.
The project adds 1.5 million bushels of new grain storage, bringing the total storage capacity in Neoga to nearly 4.5 million bushels. Two new 1,000-bushel receiving pits have tripled unloading capacity to 75,000 bushels per hour, substantially reducing truck turnaround times during harvest.
The upgrades also include a new 40-car rail spur and a modern load-out facility, enabling faster and more efficient grain shipments via Canadian National Railway to poultry markets in Mississippi and export terminals in the Gulf of Mexico.
“I know our existing farmer customers will be excited about our increased dumping capacity because they’ll be able to dump their grain and get back out to the field faster, which is critical during harvest,” said Ken Meinhart, Grain Division Manager at TGM.
He added that the new storage also raises the company’s total storage capacity to nearly 4.5 million bushels, which will help ensure there is adequate bin capacity during harvest season.
General Manager Joe Meinhart noted that the rail upgrades will cut loading times for unit trains from three days to less than half a day.
“The new rail loadout facility will help us load rail cars at 50,000 bushels per hour from the two new bins, allowing us to load 105-car unit trains in 10 to 12 hours as compared to the 72 hours it used to take. This is a time savings for our staff and benefits farmers because we’ll be shipping grain to markets in the south faster than ever before,” he said.
Based in Effingham, Illinois, TGM is a joint venture of South Central FS, GROWMARK, Inc., and Wabash Valley Service Co. The company operates 25 elevators across Illinois and Indiana, along with six MID-CO Commodities branch offices.
The combination of expanded bin space, high-capacity receiving pits, and rapid rail loading is expected to increase operational efficiency, strengthening TGM’s ability to connect Midwestern grain supplies with both domestic feed markets and international buyers.
