Tajikistan commissions new 200-tpd flour mill to strengthen domestic milling capacity
The facility is expected to play a significant role in increasing the availability of locally milled flour while creating employment opportunities and supporting regional agricultural development.
TAJIKISTAN – Tajikistan has officially inaugurated a major new pasta flour processing facility in the Bobojon Ghafurov district of Sughd Province, adding fresh milling capacity as the Central Asian nation works to reduce its reliance on imported flour.
The project, operated by local industrial enterprise Iroda Invest LLC, represents a key milestone in Tajikistan’s national campaign for rapid economic industrialization and improved domestic food security.
Spanning an area of 2,500 square meters, the modern facility features an advanced flour mill capable of processing up to 200 tonnes of wheat per day.
The infrastructure includes automated processing technology imported from leading international equipment manufacturers, a raw material storage warehouse with a holding capacity of 600 tonnes, and dedicated storage units for packaged finished products.
Additionally, an on-site mechanical workshop has been integrated into the facility to oversee specialized equipment maintenance, repair operations, and component fabrication, significantly reducing operational downtime and lowering long-term production overhead.
The enterprise focuses primarily on processing high-grade durum wheat to produce specialized, high-gluten flour suitable for manufacturing pasta, pizza dough, traditional breads, and confectionery products.
The new mill marks another milestone for the Central Asian country, which reported national flour production reached 219,251 tonnes during the first quarter of 2026, up 134% from the same quarter a year ago.
Local agricultural authorities emphasize that expanding domestic durum processing allows Tajik food producers to replace expensive imported ingredients with high-quality local supply.
The launch of operations has immediately generated 46 permanent technical and administrative jobs for residents in the Bobojon Ghafurov district, offering an average monthly salary of 3,000 somoni alongside comprehensive workplace training programs.
President Rahmon inspected the production lines alongside regional officials, expressing satisfaction with the construction standards, modern processing technologies, and private sector investments driving Sughd Province’s industrial expansion.
The commissioning of Iroda Invest’s mill forms part of a broader development initiative leading up to Tajikistan’s 35th anniversary of state independence.
By scaling up domestic grain processing infrastructure, the Tajik government aims to stabilize local flour prices, strengthen agrarian supply chains, and build long-term economic resilience against global market fluctuations.
Iroda Invest LLC operates as part of the regional agro-industrial ecosystem, which continues to implement complementary projects across Sughd Province, including vegetable oil processing, grain storage expansion, and commercial pasta manufacturing.
With the plant now fully operational, regional distributors expect a substantial increase in domestically produced flour products entering wholesale and retail markets nationwide.
