American farm groups want Washington to tie AGOA trade benefits to wider acceptance of biotechnology products in African markets.

The facility features cold storage, dry warehousing, and repackaging centres to standardize agricultural packaging and reduce post-harvest losses.

The region, already the world’s largest rice importer, is expected to increase its import volumes further as demand for rice continues to outpace local production, driven by rapid population growth, urbanization, and changing consumer preferences toward convenience foods.

The partnership will deliver over 225 metric tonnes of seed in 2026 to support food access and farm recovery.

The two industry groups aim to grow trade links, improve technology access, and support food production systems across key markets.
