The new SSW80A targets medium-scale millers with improved yield and lower energy use.

JAPAN – Rice milling equipment manufacturer, Satake, has introduced a new rice milling machine aimed at closing the gap between small and large processors, as demand for quality rice continues to grow across many regions.
The company launched the SSW80A on April 22, 2026, in Hiroshima, Japan. The machine processes 8 tons per hour, placing it between the earlier SSW60A, which handles 6 tons per hour, and the SSW100A, which reaches 10 tons per hour. This range gives millers more choice based on their scale of operation.
The SSW80A uses a uniform internal pressure milling system. This method applies steady pressure during milling instead of relying on weight. As a result, the machine handles grains more gently, reduces breakage, and improves head rice yield. Head rice yield plays a key role in market value since whole grains fetch higher prices.
The system also includes a fixed quantity supply feature. A screw feeder controls the flow of rice into the machine, which keeps pressure stable during operation. This setup supports consistent output and helps maintain grain quality.
Energy use remains a major concern for millers, especially in markets where power costs are high. The SSW80A addresses this by lowering stress on grains during milling. This reduces power demand and helps processors cut operating costs over time.
Earlier models in the series have shown gains in both yield and efficiency, and the company expects similar results with this new unit.
The machine may find strong interest in regions such as East Africa. Rice demand continues to rise, while many processors operate at a medium scale. These millers often need more capacity than small units can provide but may not have the resources to invest in large industrial plants. The SSW80A fits within this space and offers a practical upgrade path.
In cities like Nairobi, where consumers show a growing preference for high-quality rice, better milling performance can support stronger market positioning. Higher head rice yield allows millers to meet this demand and improve returns.
By adding the SSW80A to its lineup, Satake has expanded its offering to cover a wider range of processing needs. The move supports millers who seek to improve efficiency while managing costs in a competitive market.
