PepsiCo partners to launch major update to open-access climate resilience platform

The platform now covers two additional crops and six new countries, broadening its global reach and impact.

USA – PepsiCo, in collaboration with the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), has announced a significant update to its Climate Resilience Platform (CRP), an open-access tool designed to help agricultural stakeholders adapt to the escalating impacts of climate change.

The major upgrade, launched in late 2025, aims to accelerate climate adaptation efforts within the global food supply chain, reinforcing PepsiCo’s commitment to sustainability and regenerative agriculture.

The recent CRP 2.0 release introduces a suite of new features, including enhanced capabilities for quantifying climate risks and opportunities in business terms, such as projected yield improvements and investment needs.

The platform now covers two additional crops and six new countries, broadening its global reach and impact.

This evolution was made possible through PepsiCo’s leadership and co-funding from the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR), which contributed US$1 million in recognition of the platform’s potential for global impact.

It also incorporates improved data accuracy through expansive collaboration with a global network of agricultural climate experts and new partners such as Olam Agri and Bonsucro.

These features equip farmers, companies, and policymakers with better insights to make informed decisions and develop resilient agricultural practices.

The platform enables users to model future yield challenges, project crop-specific climate impacts, and develop tailored mitigation strategies for local conditions.

Its user-friendly interface fosters collaboration across stakeholder groups, helping to accelerate the transition toward more sustainable land-use practices.

This initiative aligns with PepsiCo’s broader sustainability goals, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving water, and promoting regenerative agriculture within its supply chain.

PepsiCo’s CEO, Ramon Laguarta, emphasised that CRP 2.0 exemplifies the company’s proactive stance on climate resilience, leveraging innovative technology to support farmers and ensure the long-term sustainability of the food system.

The update is part of PepsiCo’s broader climate goals validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), including plans to achieve net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2040.

Industry analysts view this platform expansion as a strategic move that enhances PepsiCo’s leadership role in environmental stewardship and supply chain resilience.

The company’s initiatives are expected to bolster investor confidence by demonstrating proactive climate risk management and reinforcing its global growth and sustainability narrative.

Initially launched in 2023, the CRP has become a cornerstone of PepsiCo’s sustainability strategy, aligning with its broader goals to reduce carbon emissions, promote soil health, and support smallholder farmers.

Additionally, the major update to PepsiCo’s Climate Resilience Platform marks a critical step in accelerating climate adaptation within agriculture.

By empowering farmers and stakeholders with better tools for climate risk mitigation, PepsiCo continues to strengthen its leadership in sustainable food production and climate resilience efforts.
