PepsiCo launches inaugural Global Farmer Awards for agricultural supply-chain innovators

The Global Farmer Awards aim to spotlight the individuals who are pioneering regenerative agriculture and driving progress in food production.

USA – PepsiCo has officially launched its first-ever Global Farmer Awards, a landmark initiative recognizing the vital role of farmers, farming families, and agricultural advisors across its global supply chain.

Held at the company’s headquarters in Purchase, New York, the event brought together nearly 60 participants from 19 countries to celebrate achievements in sustainability, innovation, and leadership in agriculture.

The awards are part of PepsiCo’s broader pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) strategy, which places sustainability at the heart of its business transformation.

As one of the world’s largest food and beverage companies, PepsiCo sources more than 50 crops and ingredients from over 60 countries.

The Global Farmer Awards aim to spotlight the individuals who are pioneering regenerative agriculture and driving progress in food production.

Among the honorees was The Perry Family Farm from Alberta, Canada, named the 2025 Farmer of the Year.

A fourth-generation farm, the Perrys have supplied potatoes to Lay’s for over 45 years and are recognized for their leadership in regenerative agriculture, renewable energy, and productivity.

Their work exemplifies the kind of innovation PepsiCo seeks to promote across its agricultural network.

“Our business starts with farmers. They are the heartbeat of our supply chain and the foundation of the global food system,” said Ramon Laguarta, Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo.

“These awards are about celebrating their contributions, highlighting the innovations they’re pioneering, and reinforcing our commitment to sustainable agriculture.”

The event featured workshops, networking sessions, and recognition ceremonies, offering a platform for farmers to share best practices and collaborate on future challenges.

It also reinforced PepsiCo’s commitment to building resilient food systems and empowering agricultural communities.

The awards come on the heels of new initiatives like the Climate Resilience Platform, a digital tool designed to support farmers with climate insights, and STEP Up for Agriculture, a pre-competitive collaboration with Unilever and retailers aimed at enhancing regenerative farming capacities globally.

Chief Sustainability Officer Jim Andrew highlighted the urgent need to accelerate regenerative farming to address soil degradation and climate challenges threatening global food security.

The Global Farmer Awards aim to elevate farmers’ stories and inspire greater collaboration to scale sustainable agriculture solutions worldwide.

By launching the Global Farmer Awards, PepsiCo is not only honoring excellence but also encouraging a global movement toward more sustainable and inclusive farming.

The initiative is expected to become an annual tradition, further embedding agricultural innovation into the company’s long-term vision.
