Paris Baguette commences production at new US$29.6M manufacturing hub in Malaysia

MALAYSIA – South Korea’s bakery-café chain, Paris Baguette, has officially commenced production at its new regional manufacturing facility in Johor, Malaysia

The RM130 million (approximately US$29.6M) facility, which began construction in 2022, is Paris Baguette’s first halal-certified bakery manufacturing and distribution center.

It features seven advanced production lines and has the capacity to produce up to 100 million bakery products annually.

The SPC Group-owned chain emphasized that this new site reflects its commitment to global expansion, supporting growth in Southeast Asia and its planned expansion into the Middle East.

“Food is more than just what we eat – through food, we connect with people, honor our heritage, and create meaningful experiences that bring communities together. With the Johor Production Centre as a strategic hub, we aim to offer wholesome and delightful flavors to the 2 billion consumers in the halal market across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and beyond. This milestone is not only about business expansion but also about building stronger connections, creating job opportunities, and celebrating the rich and diverse cultures of the communities we serve,” said Hur Young In, chairman of SPC Group.

Paris Baguette is known as a French-inspired neighborhood bakery café, offering freshly baked bread and pastries daily, as well as artisan cakes, savory lunch items, and artisan coffee beverages.

Founded in 1988, Paris Baguette is one of the largest branded coffee chains in South Korea, with 3,750 stores. The bakery-café chain currently operates 630 international locations across 14 markets and aims to expand to 12,000 stores globally by 2030.

The franchise operates in major markets including the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, China, and the Asia-Pacific region. Paris Baguette also has a factory in Tianjin, China.

In January 2025, SPC Group announced plans to build a new commercial bakery in Burleson, Texas, to supply its growing Paris Baguette franchise.

This $160 million project, spanning 150,000 square meters, is set to become SPC’s largest overseas bakery production plant. By 2030, Paris Baguette targets achieving 1,000 locations in North America

Johnson County and the City of Burleson, a suburb of Fort Worth, will provide approximately $10 million in funding for this project.

Also in January 2025, SPC Group launched a new geographic reporting segment to oversee Paris Baguette operations in Southeast Asia and facilitate expansion across the Middle East, Africa, and Oceania.

The new AMEA (Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa) division is led by CEO Hana Lee, who previously managed the chain’s operations in Southeast Asia.
