Bisconni Middle East Manufacturing to build US$30M facility in UAE

UAE – Bisconni Middle East Manufacturing, a subsidiary of Ismail Industries, Pakistan’s largest confectionery, biscuits, and snack food manufacturer, has signed a 50-year land lease agreement with Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) Group to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

With an investment of AED 110 million (US$30M), the company plans to set up its 37,000-square-metre facility in KEZAD to manufacture biscuits and confectionery products as part of Bisconni’s global expansion strategy.

Speaking about the development, Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed, CEO of Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – KEZAD Group, said that with Bisconni’s expansion into KEZAD, the group looks forward to supporting the company’s growth and innovation while contributing to the diversification of the UAE’s economy.

“We are pleased to welcome Bisconni to KEZAD, reinforcing our commitment to providing world-class infrastructure and strategic opportunities for leading manufacturers. This partnership marks a significant milestone in strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a regional hub for the food and confectionery industry,” Mohamed stated.

“We are thankful to KEZAD, Abu Dhabi and the UAE authorities for their cooperation, expeditious approval of our projects, and proactive support in setting up our business in Abu Dhabi. We look forward to an exciting chapter in our international expansion and growth,” said Maqsood Ismail, Managing Director of Bisconni Middle East Manufacturing.

Ismail Industries Limited is a Pakistani confectionery and snack food manufacturer headquartered in Karachi, Pakistan. Founded in the 1960s by Haji Ahmad Chandia, the company owns AstroPack, CandyLand, Bisconni and SnackCity brands.

In 2002, Ismail Industries founded Bisconni which later became known for its Cocomo biscuit and Rite cookies brands.

AD Ports Group launched KEZAD Group on September 19, 2022, as part of a plan to consolidate and grow its Economic Cities and Free Zones offering. It is the largest operator of integrated and purpose-built economic zones.

Abu Dhabi is strategically interested in the food processing sector. KEZAD is focused on growing this industry to realize the UAE’s food security and sustainability objectives. Bisconni’s new factory is an advancement in this directive.

Similarly, last year, KEZAD Group entered into a partnership with Emtelle, a Scottish company that pioneers the delivery of fibre-optic and microduct solutions globally, to open a US$50M innovation and manufacturing facility spanning 48,000 square meters in KEZAD Area A (KEZAD Al Ma’mourah).
