Now available in South Africa, the UAE, and 30 countries across five continents.

SOUTH AFRICA – South Korean snack manufacturer Orion has officially entered the South African market with its popular Kkobuk Chip brand, now available at over 300 SPAR supermarket locations across the country.
The chips are being sold in three distinct flavors: Corn Soup, Choco Churros, and Caramel Popcorn.
This launch marks Kkobuk Chip’s entry into Africa and strengthens Orion’s global footprint, which already spans 30 countries across five continents, including Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania.
The initial rollout in major South African cities such as Cape Town and Johannesburg is part of a broader strategy to establish a “K-Snack Road,” expanding the reach of Korean snacks beyond Asia to multiple international markets.
Orion gained local exposure earlier this year by participating in the Africa Food Show held in Cape Town, which helped build awareness and relationships with regional buyers.
The brand is recognised internationally, having secured shelf space in major retailers such as Costco in the UK and Carrefour in France.
In parallel with the South African launch, Orion has begun exporting Kkobuk Chips to the United Arab Emirates, with distribution handled by Dubai-based Golden Star International LLC (GSL).
The UAE launch targets non-halal markets and includes major retail outlets across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Expansion plans also include entering neighbouring countries to capitalise on the growing popularity of Korean snacks linked to the global K-content craze.
Kkobuk Chip distinguishes itself with a unique four-layer chip texture and a diverse flavor portfolio that appeals to a broad consumer base.
Orion sees the South African and UAE markets as strategic footholds for further widening its international distribution network.
The company’s goal is to elevate Kkobuk Chip as a globally beloved Korean snack brand by leveraging these new markets and diverse retail partnerships.
Orion’s South African launch of Kkobuk Chip through SPAR supermarkets, alongside its parallel entry into the UAE market, reflects a concerted effort to expand Korean snack culture globally.
This move not only introduces new taste experiences to African consumers but also strengthens Orion’s position as a leading global snack manufacturer with a growing international presence.
