Ghitha invests in Amalfi Foods amid announcing expansion of its portfolio

This investment marks Ghitha’s entry into the bakery industry and reinforces its commitment to diversifying Bahrain‘s food production capabilities and accelerating economic growth.

BAHRAN – Bahraini baked goods manufacturer Amalfi Foods has secured a strategic minority investment from Ghitha, Bahrain’s Food Holding Company, marking a significant expansion in the country’s bakery sector.

Announced on the sidelines of Gateway Gulf 2025 in Manama, the partnership will enable Amalfi Foods to double its production capacity by establishing a new, highly automated facility to enhance efficiency and product innovation.

The new facility is expected to support the launch of over 20 new bakery products, all manufactured in Bahrain for regional distribution across the GCC and MENA markets.

Ghitha, a portfolio company of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, plays a central role in Bahrain’s agri-food ecosystem, consolidating key food assets across poultry, grains, and agriculture sectors.

This investment marks Ghitha’s entry into the bakery industry and reinforces its commitment to diversifying Bahrain’s food production capabilities and accelerating economic growth.

The expansion is also expected to create up to 100 new jobs, underscoring its socioeconomic impact locally.

Basim Al Saie, Chairman of Ghitha, emphasised that the partnership with Amalfi Foods aligns with their strategy to invest in high-potential sectors that drive Bahrain’s economic diversification and strengthen the country’s food sector.

Amalfi Foods, founded in 2020, has rapidly emerged as a leading manufacturer of premium ready-to-eat baked goods, backed by certifications including FSSC 22000, HACCP, and ISO. Its products are renowned for their quality and consistency, with exports to over 10 countries in the GCC and the wider MENA region.

Amalfi Foods’ CEO, Wassim Sami Farhoud, stated that Ghitha’s investment empowers the company to accelerate its growth plans, deepen innovation, and elevate Bahrain’s profile as a hub for premium baked goods.

The automated facility and expanded product portfolio aim to meet rising regional demand for high-quality bakery items, fostering a stronger, more resilient food supply chain in Bahrain.

This strategic partnership not only boosts Amalfi Foods’ production capabilities and market reach but also aligns with Bahrain’s broader vision to develop a sustainable, innovation-driven agri-food sector.

As the country positions itself as a regional leader in food manufacturing, the Amalfi-Ghitha collaboration serves as a model for private-public investment synergy, driving sectoral transformation.
