This new flavor marks Oreo’s first-ever sweet and savory cookie.
USA – Mondelez International’s Oreo brand has launched a new limited-edition flavor: Chocolate Covered Pretzel, which features chocolate-flavored crème sandwiched between pretzel-flavored cookies topped with salt.
In a social media post, Oreo stated, “Want the best of both worlds? We’ve got you covered.” The flavor of chocolate-covered pretzels is popular among consumers; according to the 2024 Mondelez State of Snacking Report, 81% of consumers agree that they pay attention to the sensory experience of their snacks.
The limited-edition Oreo Chocolate Covered Pretzel cookies will be available nationwide starting May 5, while supplies last. Oreo is known for its innovative flavor combinations, and the brand frequently introduces new varieties.
For instance, the brand debuted Double Chocolate Cakesters on Monday, February 24. This new product will become a permanent addition to the Oreo lineup, featuring chocolate-flavored cream filling sandwiched between soft chocolate snack cakes.
Also returning for a limited time beginning March 3 will be the Golden Birthday Cake Oreo. Originally a permanent flavor in 2013, these cookies consist of two golden Oreos filled with birthday cake-flavored crème and adorned with rainbow sprinkles. The revival of this flavour aligns with Oreo’s strategy to tap into nostalgia and attract younger consumers.
These new items are part of Oreo’s latest offerings, which also include six new products introduced last month, such as Peanut Butter Minis and Irish Crème Thins, along with Oreo-loaded cookies, Oreo bites, and Oreo Mini Bars.
Furthermore, for 2025, Oreo has collaborated with rapper-turned-country singer Post Malone. The Limited Edition Post Malone Oreo Cookies feature a unique swirled crème, two different flavored cookies, and nine distinct prints that pay tribute to the “I Has Some Help” singer’s career.
Oreo is an American sandwich cookie consisting of two cocoa biscuits with a sweet filling. It was introduced in 1912 by Nabisco, which has been owned by Mondelez International since its acquisition in 2012.
Oreo cookies are available in more than 100 countries, and the brand has produced many varieties, with limited-edition runs becoming particularly popular in the 21st century.
