LT Foods introduces Daawat Saffron Basmati rice

By blending the world’s most prized spice with premium long-grain rice, the company aims to redefine the boundaries of the premium basmati category.

INDIA – LT Foods Ltd, the global leader in branded basmati rice and a billion-dollar FMCG powerhouse, has unveiled DAAWAT® Saffron Basmati Rice, a limited-edition luxury offering crafted exclusively for discerning palates seeking unparalleled culinary elegance.

Launched in March 2026, this groundbreaking innovation infuses premium basmati grains, cultivated along the nutrient-rich Chenab River, with the world’s finest saffron sourced solely from Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), marking the first such fusion in the basmati category.

Each pack represents artisanal mastery: grains are hand-selected using time-honoured, pesticide-free methods passed down through generations, ensuring pristine aroma, texture, and authenticity.

The saffron infusion imparts a golden hue, subtle floral notes, and exotic fragrance, elevating dishes from biryanis to pulaos into gourmet masterpieces.

Every collector’s edition includes a handcrafted jute storage bag, a personalized farmer’s note with certified pack numbering, and bespoke cooking instructions, transforming consumption into a ritual of sophistication.

Ritesh Arora, CEO of India Business & Far East at LT Foods, emphasized: “The introduction of Saffron Basmati Rice is a strategic step in strengthening our premium portfolio and enhancing value creation across the premium basmati ecosystem. As custodians of a legacy built over seven decades, we continue to invest in innovations that strengthen the premium end of the portfolio while deepening the value we create for consumers and stakeholders.”

Available via expression of interest on LT Foods’ website, the product targets the burgeoning luxury gifting segment, where high-end rice commands premium pricing amid rising disposable incomes.

This new addition follows the recent launch of “DAAWAT®” I’m Organic” range, a thoughtfully crafted offering designed for consumers who seek authentic and organic produce.

This range unveils two variants: Organic Basmati Rice and Organic Sona Masoori Rice.

At the heart of “I’m Organic” lies a simple yet powerful promise, True. Tested. Traceable. Every grain is cultivated responsibly, rigorously tested, and fully traceable, ensuring consumers know exactly what they are consuming. For the first time, traceability has gone beyond the label.

The product empowers consumers to experience the entire journey first-hand. A QR code prominently placed on the front of the pack allows consumers to have an immersive experience of the rice’s journey, from geo-tagged place of cultivation and land testing to batch-wise certification, processing, storage and final packaging.

The “DAAWAT®” I’m Organic” range comes vacuum-packed to preserve freshness and purity for a longer duration.

The “I’m Organic” range is backed by a series of global and Indian certifications for organic products, including the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), India Organic, OneCert, Jaivik Bharat, and ADITI. The new range will be available across all leading ECommerce and Quick-Commerce platforms.

As global premium rice consumption surges by 12% annually, LT Foods eyes exports to the US, the Middle East, and Europe, blending tradition with innovation.
